In these days it makes sense for small charities to help each other wherever possible. Hoglets love soft cosy bedding and Angus Cats recently donated the hoglets some excess blankets they had.
Mark Saturday 14th November on your calendar and pop into their coffee morning in Blairgowrie to help repay their kindness. I know one of the bakers and you will not be disappointed!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall at the Errol Autumn Fayre on Saturday. It was great to chat with hedgehog friends old and new. £70.06 was raised which is helping purchase the new plastic hutches for the rehab cabin. These arrive in the next week or two 🤗🤗🤗. Hedgehog des-res!!!

Meet Keira! She was handed in to Kidd Veterinary Centre Forfar a few days ago. She was tangled up in netting which had cut into her neck. Keira needed sedation in order for the netting to be removed and the wound fully cleaned. Following some antibiotics and pain relief she was tucked up and kept warm, Megan, one of the veterinary nurses phoned the rescue to see if we could take Keira. Unfortunately the Critical Care Cabin was completely full but I said I’d have a look to see if any were due to move to the rehabilitation cabin. On Friday, Morag, one of our volunteers went to collect this wee soul as we were just able to squeeze her in.
She is settled and eating but her p**p sample has revealed some internal parasites so still needs treatment for those too.
We still receive lots of calls about hedgehogs needing help and we have now been at capacity for months. Occasionally we can squeeze one in when another can move on to the next stage of their rehabilitation. We try to answer the phone to everyone who calls and offer advice. We wish there were more rescues in this part of Scotland but sadly we’re few and far between. Keira is at least now getting the care she needs.

Outside is not so good but it’s lovely and warm at the Errol Autumn Fayre in the village hall. Come along and say hi to us and check out all the stalls. Raffle, home baking and much much more.
Also making an appearance for the first time are our knitted Christmas hogs each one with a Cadbury chocolate Pud hiding inside. £4 each.

Dinky came in as a small hoglet in late September, rescued by Tracy just in time! He was covered in fleas and had severe mange on his belly and around his face. Getting rid of the fleas and then the mite which causes mange was the easy part. Poor Dinky had lots of very sore ‘scabs’ which had to be gently removed through gentle massages during baths. Now he has healthy skin and his fur is beginning to grow back - fortunately he loves his baths. Such a sweet wee boy and now weighing over 500 grams so well on the road to recovery ❤️

I spent a lovely morning with the ladies from Leuchars Women’s Guild yesterday. It was heartwarming to know that so many people care very deeply about our prickly pals, were keen to learn more and also gave the rescue a very generous donation to help us continue our work to rescue and rehabilitate hedgehogs. Thank you ladies, on behalf of everyone here at HogsCroft I appreciated your welcome and attentiveness. 😊❤️🦔
