🦉 We would like to make our customers aware about our new temporary ‘Owl Deterrent’ on our avairy.

Unfortunately Mr Owl visited in the early hours of this morning and stole one of our little finches who was sleeping on the ledge next to the mesh 🥺🥺

So we have put a temporary deterrent in place to stop Mr Owl snacking on any more of our avairy birds! 🦉

Now that April Fools Day has been and gone we can post a serious message or two .....

We are now in our 'Summer' hours and will open at 9am and close at 6pm Monday to Saturday until end of October.

Remember last drop off is 5pm !

Your pets stay is charged for the arrival day, departure day and days in between.

For SUNDAYS we are only open 10-11am and 4-5pm - for drop off and collection.

We are CLOSED 12-2pm and cannot accept drop off or collections during this time. We will no longer answer the telephone when we are closed - if we do not answer please leave a message with your name and number and we will get back to you asap. We will listen to voicemails and return urgent calls as quickly as possible. You must leave a phone number though.

We know how difficult it can be to get through on the telephone at times - we have one phone line and usually one person in reception when we are open - that person is dealing with phone calls, social media messages and customers in reception AND other admin tasks - please be kind.

VACCINATIONS - we must have sight of your pets vaccination card before the arrival day - please email or send via social media messaging if you are unable to pop in to reception.

Please ensure you check your booking confirmation email to make sure the dates booked are correct and you understand the cancellation policy.

On arrival - remember to tell us of any special requirements and medication that you have brought for your pet.

We are extremely grateful for everyone's custom and support and pride ourselves in giving the best care possible to your pets while they are with us.

You will guess from some of the above we have encountered a few issues that make our job challenging at times - please help us help you & your pets.

Wishing everybody very best wishes and we look forward to seeing you and your pets soon.

Thank you.

🐰Rabbits are not just for Easter🐰

Rabbits are often bought at Easter time because of their association with the Easter Bunny and often parents think that it's a nice gift for their children.

However, they require lots of things to give them a good life and a good quality of life that people may not realise when buying a rabbit - after Easter is over, a lot of rabbits get abandoned as they require a lot of work to look after.

Here are some of the things to consider before buying a Rabbit:

🐾 Rabbits are a long-term commitment, many live between 8 and 12 years!

🐾 They need annual vaccinations and regular health checks.

🐾Just a hutch isn't suitable for Rabbits, they need LOTS of space to be able to run and jump twice their height. Usually a big hutch AND an outside run is most appropriate, however a lot of Rabbits now live in purpose built sheds or inside the house as a free-roam rabbit.

🐾 Their houses also have to be cleaned weekly

🐾 Rabbits are very social and like to live with another rabbit!

🐾 They require lots of Hay, rabbit specific nuggets, and fresh fruits and vegetables DAILY.

🐾 Most rabbits also need grooming and their fur/coat looking after as it can get matted and their faeces getting caught, causing a potential target for flies in summer which can lead to fly strike.

🐾 Not always suitable for children as rabbits are prey animals and can get stressed when being handled, especially by children who may not understand their needs.

This is only a quick run down of what rabbits need and their needs change with different breeds of rabbits too. If you are wanting some advice about rabbits, please don't hesitate to get in touch with your local Scarsdale site✨
