‘The delivery driver has left my gate open and my dog has escaped’
‘Anyone know whose dog this is? It’s been wandering around the streets with no owner in sight’
‘Can someone keep an eye out for Fluffy? He just ran out the front door again’
I can’t count the amount of posts I’ve seen recently on social media that have had one of the above titled with a picture of a beloved family pet attached.
Threshold training is a hugely overlooked skill that everyone needs to be enforcing with their dogs in order to help keep them safe!
All you need to do to work on this behaviour is chuck on a long training line for management, solidify your sit stay and add in organised distractions to help proof the behaviour.
Side note- 2 of the dogs in this video aren’t even mine, they’ve been staying for residential training.
