Talking about why we expose dogs to pressure.
Thought I’d talk about this in light of recent events. Pressure/stress introduced in a controlled manner for the betterment of the dog is a fundamental force for good in dog training.
We should always expose our dogs to controlled pressure and stress to achieve the most well rounded dogs that we can. A dog not exposed to these things becomes nervous wreck unable to deal with the world and unable to do its job if it’s a working dog.
Adversity builds strength of character in dogs as it does in people. The nuance is ensuring it is controlled so the dog can overcome to the point that the adversity is no longer a thing. That the pressure/stressor is no longer a thing.
It should always be about the betterment of the dog and the betterment of the dog in its job role. Never ever about human ego or anything other than that.
