Pet Havens has been established in the heart of Ramsey since June 2009. The pet shop is owned and run by husband and wife team Darren and Pauline Williams. Pauline originally purchased the business back in 2001, when it was originally operating in Peterborough. For Pauline it was really like the old shaver advert, “I enjoyed the product so much, we brought the company.” Except in this case Pauline
had so many pets at that time, it worked out cheaper to buy the business! Once Pauline brought the business, they both developed and diversified the business expanding it by providing a Home Delivery Service to their customers in and around Peterborough. Then in 2005 they took a warehouse in Ramsey, allowing them to expand their delivery service and also branch out into wholesale. In early 2009, Darren left the business that he had been involved with for the past 7 years, this coincided with the relocation of a well-established pet shop in the town of Ramsey and growth of their delivery business in the local area. They therefore against all advice decided the time was right to open a pet shop in Ramsey and haven’t stood still since. Between the both of them they have over 25 years’ experience in the pet industry and also have a wealth of knowledge of the products, which in turn helps them give the best advice to their customers. Pet Havens stock products that cater for dogs, cats, cage birds, small animals, poultry, indoor and outdoor fish and wild birds. They stock a range of products in store, however, they have access to over 30,000 other products. Pet Havens pride themselves on providing their customers with a personal customer service experience, that customers do not get within the larger pet stores or the internet. Most people think if you buy from the larger pet stores, or the internet it is cheaper. However, much of the time Pet Havens are either the same price or even cheaper, so don’t forget to ask them, as if you don’t ask you will never know. Pet Havens offers their customers the ability to place orders for their pet supplies that they require on a regular basis and to have it delivered to their doorstep or available to collect in store. This makes it easier for the customer, not having to remember that they need to order their supplies. The customer can have it ordered for them when they require it e.g., every week, every 2 weeks, once a month, every 6 weeks, or even once the customer has collected or had their order delivered, the customer can advise when they require their next order. The pet shop is located in the Great Whyte, opposite the Jolly Sailor public house, just on the corner of Whytefield Road. The pet shop is open 6 Days a Week, from Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm, Saturday 8.30am to 2pm and does not close during lunch time, but is closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays. There are Free Parking Spaces just outside the shop or there is a Free Public Car Park a minutes’ walk away. They also offer a Free Delivery Service to their customers in and around the Ramsey area. They deliver in and around the area on a weekly basis, so customers can either phone up, message, email or pop in and order their requirements on or before the Wednesday and have it delivered on the following Friday. Since the Coronavirus Pandemic in March 2020, Pet Havens have been operating under the Governments Covid-19 Secure Guidelines. This means Pet Havens has had to limit the number of customers within the store at any one time, to 1 Customer, with queuing outside. But, like the majority of high street businesses, this is a vital time to support the local shops within the town, so they look forward to welcoming customer to Pet Havens.
