Canine Rehabilitation & Fitness Centre
Leading Industry Experts - Yorkshire Based
Pre/Post Surgical Recovery, Gait Re-education, Physio & Laser Therapy (Class VI & 3b), Fitness Conditioning, Fun Swims +
Clinical Animal Behaviourist (MSc) & Dog Training All our sessions are carried out by a fully qualified hydrotherapist or physiotherapist (ACPAT, NAVP) and we offer only safe water sessions where d

ogs are at the centre of the session. Whether this is for a dog who has a diagnosed condition, getting older in age, or a puppy straight from their first injections - we can cater for all dogs. We offer private sessions for owners and their pets, and you will never share the pool or treadmill with other clients dogs during your session. If your dog has a diagnosed condition, we liaise with your vets to obtain the medical history and offer full assessments, which allow us to consider how best to treat your animal. For those with fit, active and healthy dogs - we can offer introduction to water sessions for dogs who are not very confident. This can be in either the pool or the treadmill. Those dogs who are more confident and want to come for exercise, mental stimulation or to improve muscle or stamina - we offer a more tailored exercise session, based on the ability and breed. This is also suitable for sporting or working dogs. We never work the dog beyond their ability and only set them up to achieve! Each session is individually tailored to your dog - we work with owners to find out exactly what your dog is like. Our physiotherapy sessions are offered with ACPAT Chartered Physio - Lisa Emerson, who has been with House of Hound since the opening in 2017. Lisa is well established in both her human and animal physiotherapy. She predominantly treats horses and dogs - but also offers horse rider clinics and other animal treatment - including cats and farm animals. Hydrotherapy sessions are facilitated by either Victoria (Hydrotherapist) Louise or Zoe who are both (Hydrotherapist and Veterinary Physio - MSc)
Each session is carried out in a therapeutic way, with force free handling. We use positive techniques, to guide your dog within their session. Owners will be talked through each process by the therapist. Victoria also offers Mantrailing UK introduction workshops and training. This is getting dogs to sniff and track a human scent. It's great fun for owners and dogs alike and brilliant to both focus and tire your dog. Sessions are advertised on both social media and the website with booking and more information available there. Scent workshops are also available for those who would like to work their dog on a specific scent. Victoria is a City and Guilds qualified scent instructor and has also qualified with UK Sniffer Dogs and Scent Work UK. These are offered via our sister business Sniff and Trail UK. We can teach right from the basics up to competition level. Info is also on social pages and the website

Bobby is one of our golden oldies who attends weekly hydrotherapy, laser therapy and physiotherapy sessions to help manage his osteoarthritis (OA).

The underwater treadmill allows him to exercise with reduced weight-bearing through painful joints while encouraging muscle maintenance, joint mobility, balance and confidence. Combined with our Class 4 laser therapy and physiotherapy, these sessions help keep him moving comfortably and enjoying life for as long as possible.

OA may not be curable, but with the right management plan, we can help dogs like Bobby stay active, strong and happy. 💙

Every step, every session, every tail wag matters. 🐕💦

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Swift Referrals, and it was genuinely lovely to spend time with the team.

With so many shared cases between us, it’s incredibly valuable to step out of our own clinics and see first-hand the level of care, skill and attention that goes into every stage of diagnosis, surgery and recovery. Being able to connect faces to cases, environments to reports, and teams to treatment plans only strengthens the continuity of care for the dogs we all support.

It’s clear to see the thought, precision and compassion behind the work they do and it reinforces just how important collaborative practice is in complex and ongoing rehabilitation journeys.

We’re proud to work alongside such dedicated professionals and grateful for the opportunity to support, learn and align our approaches for the benefit of our shared patients.

Thank you to the Swift team for the warm welcome from all at House of Hound 🐾

What an incredible Open Day! ⭐

It was wonderful to welcome such a brilliant mix of clients and industry professionals to Swift Referrals and show them what we do best – compassionate, specialist care for every patient, every step of the way.

Thank you to everyone who came along, shared conversations, smiles and made the day so special. We loved opening our doors and celebrating our amazing team and community 💙

Post from Victoria ❤️

On Friday evening, our wonderful, sassy, and brilliant Chihuahua, Olive, passed away at home with her family by her side.

She was 14½ years old. She has walked my path, and I hers. She gave a kind of love that many will never know, and a loyalty that knows no end.

On Friday, she appeared unwell, not in a way that felt life or death, but enough to know her condition had worsened. Our brilliant vet, who has cared for her throughout, said he was surprised she’d made it past two weeks given her diagnosis. We adjusted her medication and planned to speak again on Monday.

Just over two hours later, Olive passed away, at home, where she belonged. She took her final breath with us there, surrounded by love. She wanted to stay, and we wanted her to, more than life itself, but she couldn’t… and we couldn’t ask her to anymore. So instead, we sat with her and told her to go to Minnie. She went straight after.

The pain is raw, unreal, like nothing I can explain. It doesn’t compare to a human loss, it’s different. It’s as if part of my own soul has gone. Like looking in the mirror and no longer seeing a part of who I am.

Time will heal, and I know she had a good, full life.... and for all the kind words people will offer, I’m deeply grateful. But on Friday, a part of me — maybe only a tiny part, Chihuahua-sized, died too.

That piece now lives in heaven, where we’ll meet again someday.

The paws and footsteps that once walked beside me are gone. And now, where there is only one set of footprints, He carries both me and Olive, in His arms. 💔🐾

Go be with Min-Min, Olive, she waits for you, and you can wait for us. Till we meet again ❤️

🐾 Can Hydrotherapy Help Arthritis? 💦

Featuring Biscuit, 16 years old, Border Terrier, from West Yorkshire 🩵

A regular face at House of Hound is our old aged hound (OAH) Biscuit who has recently transitioned from our underwater treadmill into therapeutic swimming to help improve his comfort, strength, and range of motion.

The warm, supportive water helps relieve joint pressure, ease pain, and gently build muscle, all without strain and guided by our experienced and qualified Hydrotherapist.

Hydrotherapy isn’t just for keeping young dogs fit or treatment post-surgery, it can make a huge difference to senior dogs (OAH's) with arthritis, giving them more freedom and joy in their movement again in senior years. 🐕‍🦺✨

🏡 Based in Huddersfield, we’re proud to help dogs across Leeds, Halifax, Wakefield & wider areas of Yorkshire, Lancashire and Manchester, move better and feel brighter through clinical hydrotherapy, physiotherapy & laser therapy.

💬 Thinking your older dog could benefit? WhatsApp us to find out more on how to register with us and help your old dog this winter ❄️

💦 Every swim tells a story — and Biscuit’s is pure heart. ❤️

Care Without Conditions

We see no class, no breed, no wealth
only life that asks for help.
Young or old, insured or not,
each dog deserves the care we have got.

We see no colour, no flag, no name,
no politics here to fuel the flame.
Each human who walks through our door
is met with kindness, nothing more.

Worth can't be measured in coins or status,
but really only in the bonds that shapes us.
Dog and human, side by side
here, all are welcome, none denied.

This is our ethic,
this is our pride:
to serve with compassion,
with nothing to hide.

In current times, where the news seems to all be only about negativity, highlighting division, pain and blame, we are keen to remind all our community that we are shining our flag of inclusivity 🐶❤️💪🏼

- No breed shame
- No person blame
- No hate
- No judgement
- No hierarchy

We work on our ethics in both our personal and professional lives. We fly the flag of ❤️

A photo of our chihuahua Olive who is now 14.5 years old 🐾

She has learned to love her 'neighbour' (Bella, our old staffie)

Where once they were enemies, they have found a bond which has united them to live peacefully, and over time have become family 🥰

If only the world could 'Be more Olive' 🩷
