With Christmas festivities round the corner, we are starting to count down to Christmas in the best way possible - with chocolate advent calendars! These can contain various quantities of chocolate (around 75-300 g) and if consumed in one go could be a risk to pets, particularly if they contain dark chocolate or a small pet is involved. The amount of theobromine in products varies as cocoa beans are all naturally a little different and some dogs may be genetically more susceptible to the effects due to reduced metabolism.
