This little bean is the baby that was admitted last week from Flockton, sadly mum had abandoned the nest and her sibling had passed away.

She is in the very capable hands of Beth and has now started lapping …

Netting …

A reminder to please raise netting up off the ground when not in use..

This little girl, named ‘Shenanigan’ by the finders, was found yesterday in Scholes..

She was tightly bound by the neck in cricket nets and was completely unable to escape. There is absolutely no doubt that she would have died if not found ..

Thankfully she was cut loose and brought to us, she had constriction marks around her neck but no broken skin .. Shenanigan will remain in rescue until we are sure that no constriction injuries appear over the coming days and that she is in good health .. 🦔💕

Another huge thank you again today to Julia's Cake Craft Courses..

Julia not only donated the lovely cake that we auctioned yesterday, but she has also run a couple of workshops and donated all of the money raised to us .. a total of £445

Thank you so much Julia, this has paid for the medications ordered and will also help with this month’s food bill 💕🦔

We want to say a great big thank you to Archie, Mason and Ellie for raising £80 for the hedgehogs at the drive sale today at their grandparents house, here in Shelley..

We think that this fabulous trio of hedgehog heroes did really well and I am sure you’ll agree with us 🦔

These 2 young wildlife hero’s have done this for a number of years when they have seen staying with their grandparents and are an absolute credit to both them and their parents..

So if you get chance, pop down and say hello ..💙🦔

Happy Friday 🤓

Quite a few more admissions and thankfully a few releases..also we sadly lost a hedgehog overnight, that had only been released in June this year 😢

This little girl, who I’ve named Lizzie, arrived yesterday evening, found in Flockton, lay on her side in a field..

Dehydrated, cold and the telltale sign of her tiny female parts looking dilated and sore .. Flystrike had hatched and maggots had crawled in and were doing their damage.

With the help of the finder and a suction machine, we managed to remove all of the maggots. Lizzie had received sub cut fluids, pain relief and is now on a course of antibiotics..

She’s looking much brighter this morning 🦔💕

After so many comments and messages about feeding the hoglets milk..

Let’s make it clear, just in case people don’t read all of the posts 🙈

Mammals are born and drink mothers milk, rescues cannot obviously provide hedgehog milk, so we provide an alternative..hoglets can’t just start eating kitten biscuits when they don’t have any teeth. It’s like you eating pie and chips the day after you were born..

What we feed the hoglets is NOT cows milk, goats milk, lactose free milk, yak milk or another other milk that the general public can buy off the shelf at Morrisons, Asda, or wherever….It is a blend of a number of ingredients.. I don’t want to encourage anyone feeding hoglets, especially ones as small as those I posted about yesterday.. Instead, please find your local rescue and ask for help. If you don’t know your local rescue, the link to find it is in the comments ..

DO NOT FEED HEDGEHOGS MILK ..

That’s the message, which I hope is clear 🤓
