Please meet Jake an adorable 12yr old one eyed Jack Russel Terrier (JRT). Don’t let his age or the fact he only has one eye fool you, this is a very sprightly boy who is good with dogs, cats & children. In fact he is a perfect gentleman!

Jake is being rehomed through Wirral Animal Samaritans due to his owner becoming very ill. He is currently in foster care with a family member but due to other commitments this is only temporary. Please no negative comments because placing Jake into a quiet retirement home is definitely the best thing for him and the family only have his best interests at heart.

I have met Jake and assessed him with my own dogs. He’s so calm and gentle, walks lovely on and off lead and waits his turn for a treat. He only asks for one thing in return….. a lap to curl up and sleep on. This boy is very affectionate and sociable with a beautiful silky soft coat.

He does have some separation anxiety and his current foster home has worked very hard with him, this will need to be continued in his retirement home. Jake will need an understanding owner who likes having a constant companion and if you like a hot water bottle in the form of a JRT in your bed at night, it’s a match made in heaven.

Jake has recently had a full MOT and health check at the vet and he was a star being handled with no health concerns from the vet. He is already neutered & microchipped. He will vaccinated, flea & wormed will be having his teeth cleaned with a sonic toothbrush so will have lovely fresh breath kisses to adorn you with.

UPDATE 16/02/25
Troy will be going to a new family next weekend on “Foster to Adopt” basis. This means we can see how he settles in and gives everyone the best chance to ensure it’s the right fit. 💙

Troy has been in foster care under Wirral Animal Samaritans for 3 weeks. He was rescued with 3 other dogs, including his Mum from horrible conditions where he lived from birth in a very dirty kitchen with multiple dogs. He is a very special boy looking for a very special forever home.

Troy is around 15 months old and is a Chiweenie (Chihuahua x Dachshund). He is now toilet trained and great with other dogs. He’s a very gentle soul and loves to cuddle with another dog or his human. He has started to play with toys and he will need an active home to help his development.

He has had to learn everything about the outside world in a very short space of time and he’s an A* student!

He walks on and off lead with good recall and loves having fun running and exploring with his doggy friends. He’s still a bit nervous of new people and busy areas like roads and shopping centres but he’s quite happy to be carried while he takes everything in. He now travels well in the car.

He has been to the vet for a check up and was great at being handled for examination, he weighs 6kg. He has been to the groomer for nail trim and didn’t flinch.

To begin with he had terrible separation anxiety from his human even if he’s with other dogs. He can now sleep quietly in the lounge at night with the other dogs. He can be separated from his human in the house whilst doing chores and he sits by the barrier watching and listening. He whimpers but doesn’t bark. This is a work in progress that his new owner will have to take seriously.

* At least one calm resident dog who will show Troy the ropes and be a cuddle & play buddy
* Human who is home a lot to continue helping Troy get over his separation anxiety
* No cats (he runs after fast moving animals)
* Troy will have to be neutered once he settles into his forever home

She was in foster care with Wirral Animal Samaritans.

I dropped her off at her new forever home on Saturday.

This guy is so funny with his Pet Portraits By Hercule.

I only found out today that he has raised money for charities with his humour and “ultra-realistic style” portraits x

I recently shared the very first pet portrait I ever drew, one of my dog Narla that I posted to Facebook in August 2020.

I said at the time that the portrait of Narla kick-started this project, and that’s true.

But THIS portrait, drawn exactly four years ago today, was the one that changed everything.

You see this portrait was drawn for my mate Matt, at a time when I was just drawing my portraits for a laugh and sharing them on my personal page to my friends.

A few days after drawing this portrait, Matt wanted to give some money for it. And that’s when the fundraising idea was born.

So a week later, on the 6th September 2020, I launched my Just Giving Page with a VERY optimistic target of hitting £299.….

Including Gift Aid, we have now raised £353,323 for my chosen charities Turning Tides and StreetVet (plus another £19,000 for other charities along the way)! 🤯

I’m often asked what my favourite portrait is, and the answer probably changes each time I respond. But what’s my most important portrait? Definitely this one of the lovely Jess. Because without this portrait, and without the support of my pal Matt, the fundraising might have never started…..

🐕 We have undertaken the world’s largest study into the health of designer crossbreed dogs and revealed that the overall health of three common designer crossbreeds (Cockapoo, Labradoodle and Cavapoo) is largely similar to their parent purebred breeds.
