Animal Carer – Kennels 🐾🐾

Destitute Animal Shelter

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Animal Carer to join our team, working primarily within our busy kennel environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident with dogs of all breeds and temperaments and passionate about animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities
🐾Walking, cleaning, and providing daily care for dogs in our kennels
🐾Following strict behavioural training plans provided for individual dogs
🐾Adhering to strict cleaning and hygiene protocols at all times
🐾Monitoring animal health, wellbeing, and behaviour
🐾Supporting the wider shelter team when required

Hours
• Monday: 12pm – 5pm
• Tuesday: 8am – 5pm
• Wednesday: 12pm – 5pm
• Saturday: 8am – 5pm

Pay 💰 Minimum Wage
From the 1st April - £12.71

Full flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the shelter.

Essential Requirements
🐾Previous experience working with dogs
🐾Confidence handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
🐾Full driving licence and ability to travel
🐾Reliable, hardworking, and compassionate attitude toward animal care
🐾Over 21 years old

✨Customer notice✨

Just wanted to update all our customers on the new prices list that will start on the 1st March 2026

Our previous pricing has not been updated since 1st December 2022. Over the last 4 years our business expenses such as rent, energy bills & stock have all increased. But due to the cost of living crisis we didn’t want to put any extra pressure on our customers. However, now we’ve hit 2026 and had even more business expense increases we’ve had to reevaluate all our incomes and outgoings💜

As of 1st March 2026, prices with me will increase from £2 to £6 depending on breed, size, style of groom and coat condition. We have re-evaluated our entire pricing please see our 5 reasons listed on this post💜

Additionally, Millie has now completed her Dog Grooming Apprenticeship with me along side Wigan&Leigh College. She has had just over 2 years experience at Hattie&Bows. This means the 10% discount on all her grooms will now be removed and Millie’s prices will be my old price list. We are so proud of the groomer she has become and are extremely excited for the future. Millie will continue to be employed by myself, operating under her own name Wags&Whiskers whilst she continues to showcase her work. Please see her price list posted below💚
