There’s a quiet kind of heartbreak that comes with this job — one that people don’t always see.
I don’t just groom dogs. I grow with them. I meet them when they’re small, unsure, full of energy and curiosity, and over time I learn every little thing about them — the way they like to be held, the spots they trust me to touch, the tiny quirks that make them who they are. They become familiar in a way that goes far beyond routine. They become part of my world.
So when they’re gone, it doesn’t feel distant. It doesn’t feel like “just a client.” It feels personal.
Because they were never just dogs I groomed — they were family to me in their own way. I cared for them, watched them change, supported them through every stage of their lives. I held them, comforted them, celebrated them. And without even realising it, I loved them like they were my own.
Losing them isn’t just losing a pet — it’s losing family. I feel your pain, and I’m thinking of you during such a difficult time.
