This young lady has had real difficulty accepting me into her home. I walk her room mate, who is a rescue, and she loves me. This young girl has been a harder nut to crack.
I decided to take the leap and walk with her. Unfortunately, I didn't get video evidence of her first walk due to me having to put all my attention into her. She wanted nothing to do with me. Pulled on her harness and moving her forward was very difficult.
I moved to a slip lead (with the help and permission of her owner), due to me worrying she would slip her harness. This is our 3rd walk together. I don't use any corrections just lots of praise. She now will do wees and sniff on our walks. I do give a few reminders what direction we are moving in but the choice is always hers. I was even allowed to adjust the lead and give physical affection on our last walk...a huge improvement in about 4 weeks.
I'm hopeful for what the future brings.
