Day 3 - Puppy Progress There are often times when it feels like all of your previous training has disappeared into thin air, it's the whole 2 steps forward, 3 steps back feeling, I know too well how frustrating this can be. Do you have a dog who is ball obsessed? 🎾⚽️ Ball chasing can be lots of fun for our dogs but it’s important for us to be mindful about the impact of constant ball chasing on our dogs body and also their arousal levels, for instance if they struggle to settle down afterwards. This lovely boy is 11 now and is showing early signs of arthritis but he LOVES a tennis ball. So we’ve changed it up and have given him a new low impact game to play which is to play hide and seek with his ball. As you can see from his tail, he is having a great time! This game is great for a few reasons: 1. It’s low impact so less stress on the dogs joints 2. WHAT IS YOUR DOGS BIGGEST MOTIVATOR? 🌭🎾🦆 In this video, you can see me training Luna through so weave poles as a little exercise to help with heelwork. I would usually say her top motivator is FOOD but in this instance, she had fallen in love with this duck toy and would much rather work for that than the food. In the video you can see her lose interest in the food but when I change the motivator to her favourite toy, I get her focus back and she is much more engaged. 🌸 Snuffle mats 🌸 I had a go recently at making my own homemade snuffle mat and am very happy with the final product 🙂 I actually really enjoyed making it too!
