Come and meet a variety of birds of prey in a beautiful serene garden setting. We have our character birds including Kali the White tail sea Eagle and Mr Huxley Himself as well as our large flying team! Watch our flying displays at 12pm and 2pm (weather permitting) and meet a bird at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. We run special experience days including: raptor days, raptor and owl afternoons, hawk walks. A

lso the always popular Barn Owl experience where you can have a session flying and handling our friendly and cute Owl Casper.

We offer a range of bird of prey experiences, from our ever‑popular Hawk Walks to our daily barn owl experiences. Your dad could feed our cheeky meerkats or even spend a whole day with owls and raptors if you want something extra special.

Every experience booked helps support us as a small, local charity and makes a real difference to the care of our animals.

Meet the youngest member of our flying display, meeting the public at this morning’s flying display!

If you would like to come and visit in this lovely sunshine, we are open 11-5 Wednesday - Saturday, and 11-4 on Sundays. Free parking at Hillier’s garden centre, Horsham, and two exciting flying displays daily. You can also see our adorable family of meerkats, clever raven, shy porcupines and very chatty parrots!

We were over the moon when our very own volunteer, Nathan, won the Horsham District’s Young Volunteer 2026 award at last night’s Horsham District Voluntary Sector Support Awards ceremony!

Nathan started volunteering with us almost 3 years ago. As a young neurodiverse person navigating a neurotypical world, he was facing challenges with his education which really impacted his self confidence and self esteem. He was quiet, shy and avoided talking to the public whenever possible.

Over the last three years, we have watched him learn, grow and mature into an exceptional and much valued member of our volunteer team. He now confidently gives educational talks to groups of the public at our ‘meet a bird’ sessions, and he is a key part of helping to run our flying displays both at the centre, in schools and out in the community. He works tirelessly to care for the birds and support everyone on the volunteer team here, and he is always happy to stop and talk to visitors and answer their questions.

Huxley’s depends on our superstar team of volunteers to be able to do what we do, and we all are so proud that Nathan’s achievements have been recognised.

Well done, Nathan!

This week is National Volunteers’ Week, and we’d like to take the opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to every single one of our amazing volunteers. We simply couldn’t do the work we do without them.

Their dedication, passion and willingness to give their time so generously are second to none. Whether they are giving flying displays, caring for the birds, helping with school visits, welcoming families, or quietly keeping things running behind the scenes, they are the reason that we can do what we do.

Here are just a few of our superstar team of volunteers. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them, and grateful for the time, energy and dedication that they give to the centre.

This weekend is looking like the last couple of sunny days before the rain arrives, so it’s a great time to visit!

After a few days of unseasonable heat, the weather this weekend looks to be finally settling into something warm and comfortable. Perfect for a visit to see our birds fly, see our adorable family of meerkats, prickly porcupines and very talkative parrots before the forecast turns on Monday!

If you’ve been meaning to visit over half term, this is the weekend to go!

Opening hours for this weekend are 11am-5pm. Flying displays at midday and 2pm (with different birds flying in each display), followed by a ‘meet a bird’ talk where you can see a bird up close and learn all about them.

You can find us at the back of Hillier’s garden centre, where you will find plenty of free parking.

Adopting one of our animals makes a brilliant gift, and helps us to continue with the work that we do 🎁

We have more than 80 birds and animals waiting to be chosen, with adoptions starting from £25 a year - higher adoption levels include great extras like an annual pass to our centre and discounts on an experience.

Every adoption supports our work as a charity.

We’re here to educate the public about our birds, many of which are endangered in the wild, and to share their habitats and conservation stories with our community. We also offer unique volunteering opportunities that give people the chance to be part of an amazing team, learn, grow and be part of something meaningful. Adoptions help us keep going through the cost of living squeeze.

We’ve been busy here at Huxley’s with breeding season in full swing. Here’s our tawny owls hatching only days ago! Come and see us this bank holiday Monday and half term (Wednesday to Sunday) to see some of the babies that we have!
