Did you know owls have a unique ability to fly almost silently, unlike most other birds? Their special feathers help break up air turbulence, creating smaller currents that reduce sound. Plus, soft, velvety down helps muffle noise too. 🦉

What an amazing day in Horsham.

We were quite literally first in and last out at the center between me and taking north of 2800 photos most of them where high burst.

So get ready for some Huxley spam over this week 🤣

For anyone that has not been huxleys they offer an engaging and educational experience for visitors of all ages. The center is home to over 80.. Yes 80 😳 magnificent birds of pray and some delightful meercats as well all this for £11 per adult!!

Also Sunday we had two free birds shows in with the price as well as birds stretching their wings over the day with them getting super close as well that any mobile phone will capture so amazing shots!

Truly amazing experience for the price, also you are not tied to the centre, as huxleys is at the back of a garden center so keep you receipt and you can nip out for a loo break or a canteen stop as well I definitely recommend the fried breakfast 😍

Let’s go fly a hawk! Yes, you can actually come and fly a hawk yourself here at Huxley’s Birds of Prey Centre! 🦅

Our Harris Hawks are happy to fly to your hand whilst walking through some beautiful Sussex countryside. 🤩

The Harris Hawks particularly love this part of the job and if you’re lucky you might get the opportunity to see a hunt in action! 🦅

Today marks 3 years since the passing of Julian the founder of Huxley’s! 🦉

Julian is still very much with us in spirit everyday with what we do and we’ve achieved so much to date.

We’ve built and renovated enclosures, introduced meerkats (something I’m sure he’ll be turning in his grave over 🤣), kept the garden going and the biggest achievement was getting recognised and registered as a charity. 🤩

The hard work continues and it could not be possible without our lovely customers supporting us each year, the dedicated team of staff and volunteers and of course the continued support of Julian’s family who have adopted me in as one of their own. 🦅

Thank you everyone and here’s to remembering Julian and all he did and the legacy he created.

Did you know Barn Owls swallow their food whole? 🦉

They skip chewing and gulp down their prey—skin, bones, and all! The parts they can’t digest, like bones and fur, are later coughed up as pellets.
