🐾 Animal Care Assistant Wanted – Join Our Rescue Family! 🐾

Are you amazing with animals and not afraid to get your hands dirty?

We are looking for an experienced, mature Animal Care Assistant to join our team for approximately 20 hours per week, with occasional full-time live-in holiday cover.

About the role:
• Daily care of dogs in our unique kennel-free rescue environment
• Feeding, grooming, walking and cleaning
• Ensuring the wellbeing of dogs and other sanctuary animals
• Caring for horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cats and small animals
• Coordinating volunteers and welcoming visitors
• Living on-site during owner holidays (non-smoking accommodation)

Our rescue provides sanctuary for animals who may have behavioural challenges or special needs; confidence around dogs in a large group is essential.

About you:
✔ Over 25 years old
✔ Background in animal care
✔ Confident with a variety of dogs and animals
✔ Able to lead volunteers and work independently
✔ Calm problem-solver with initiative
✔ Committed to health & safety standards

Pay: Self-employed position at £13/hour, with additional payment for holiday cover.

We’re hiring an Animal Assistant!

Do you love animals and don’t mind getting your hands dirty? Want to make a real difference to the lives of animals in need? Get in touch!

The role includes, but isn’t limited to:
🐾 Assisting with, and taking responsibility for, the general care and welfare of the animals
🐾 Assisting with vet runs
🐾 Administering medication to some animals
🐾 General onsite maintenance
🐾 Cleaning animal shelters, litter trays etc.
🐾 Feeding animals
🐾 Meeting and greeting volunteers and members of the public
🐾 Fussing animals!

Person specification:
🐾 Compassionate and interested in animal welfare
🐾 Team player
🐾 Adaptable to the requirements of the day
🐾 Able to cope with the unpredictable nature of animal rescue
🐾 Confidence around feral cats and nervous dogs
🐾 Able to lift up to a maximum of 20kg, to assist with general maintenance and transportation/lifting cats in carriers
🐾 Personable, with professional communication skills
🐾 MUST have clean, full driving licence and access to own car.

This is a part-time, paid role. The Animal Assistant will be required onsite (Crawley) for three hours on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and for two hours on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. They will need to work occasional Saturdays with advance notice.
