Broadbridge Heath is now under Medivet (since June 2021). We treat all small animals at a very high level both medically and surgically. Our mission statement is: ‘We aim to treat your pet as if it were our own’ and we genuinely believe this is the servi

ce we offer. All our staff are trained to a very high standard and undergo ongoing further professional development to keep these standards high. Equally important is the fact that they are chosen for their caring attitude and devotion to the patients under their care and their ability to use this to give the best service possible even under very difficult and sad circumstances.

Our out-of-hours service is changing from Medivet 24 Hour Forest Row to Vets Now Worthing, effective Friday 1st September.

They will be able to see our patients between the hours of 19:00pm - 08:30am.

Since wildlife relies on a stable habitat, understanding conservation and preservation is important. Developing strategies helps to maintain existing habitats and repair or replace those that have been destroyed.

🩺 What is kennel cough? Kennel cough is the common name given to infectious bronchitis in dogs. It affects their respiratory system, causing them to cough. 🩺 What does a dog coughing sound like? The most obvious symptom of kennel cough is a forceful, hacking cough, which will often sound like your dog has something stuck in their throat. The cough can be dry and hoarse or productive, in which case it can be followed by a gag, swallowing motion or the production of mucus. 🩺 How can dogs catch kennel cough? Kennel cough is airborne and highly contagious, which is why it can spread through kennels quickly. It is also transmitted with bacteria on toys, food bowls or other shared objects. 🩺 Kennel cough has an incubation period of 2-14 days, and some dogs can be carriers of the infection for months without developing symptoms. 🩺 Is there a treatment for kennel cough? In most cases, dogs will recover from kennel cough without treatment within three weeks, but it can sometimes linger for anything up to six weeks. To aid recovery, make sure your home is well ventilated and avoid using a collar and lead, as any pulling might aggravate the throat further. Cough suppressants, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories may be prescribed by the vet to make your pet a bit more comfortable as they make a recovery. 🩺 Can my dog get kennel cough more than once? Yes. There are many different strains of kennel cough, so your dog can catch the infection multiple times. 🩺 Should I vaccinate my dog against kennel cough? The nasal vaccine for Bordetella bronchiseptica can be given at your 6 monthly health check, with it providing protection for 12 months.
