A slight deviation from our usual cheery countdown posts…
Whilst we’re all getting excited for Dobiefest and counting down the days, moments like this remind us exactly why we’re doing it.
Every ticket purchased, every class booked, every raffle ticket bought and every pound raised helps dogs who find themselves in need of rescue, rehabilitation and a second chance.
Behind all our fundraising is a real dog. A dog who didn’t get the start they deserved. A dog who needs veterinary care, food, training, rehabilitation and, ultimately, a loving home.
Yesterday, Lincs welcomed another Dobermann into their care.

Last week, we became aware of this dog through a Facebook post. A concerned member of the public had been sneaking out at night to feed him when nobody else would. Hidden away from the world, tied to a crate and living in absolutely appalling conditions, this poor soul had been surviving rather than living.
Yesterday, a wonderful lady called Tracey made an enormous journey to bring him to safety.
When she arrived, this boy was sitting inside a metal crate in the back of a pickup truck. When Tracey asked for him to be moved into her vehicle, they initially tried to move the entire crate instead, clearly attempting to hide the condition he was in.
Eventually, when that wasn't possible, they dragged him from the crate.
Dragged him.
They claimed he was frightened of cars. The reality?
The moment he climbed into the back of Tracey's car, surrounded by comfort and kindness, he settled down and went straight to sleep.
Not because he was scared. Because he was exhausted.
Because for the first time in a very long time, he felt safe.
Despite having an emergency foster home ready and waiting, it quickly became obvious that he needed urgent veterinary care.
This afternoon he was examined and the findings are heartbreaking.
He has significant concerns with his mobility and coordination.
He has a painful, damaged foot.
His ears are sore.
His eyes are infected.
His teeth are rotten.
And that is only what we know so far.
After speaking with the vet, we agreed that today had already been traumatic enough for him. Tonight he has been given pain relief and allowed to rest.
He now has safety, shelter and a team determined to give him the future he deserves.
So as we enter the final countdown to Dobiefest 2026, we’re asking you to dig deep for dogs like this boy on the day, and for every dog who may need Lincs tomorrow.
