Our capuchins also got to enjoy some cardboard box enrichment. Their normal food, or special treats, are placed in the box & they have to find a way to access the food.

Enrichment is essential for monkeys to support their psychological and physical well-being. Because they are highly intelligent and naturally active, enrichment prevents boredom, reduces stress, and stops the development of abnormal behaviors by stimulating natural, species-typical actions like foraging, climbing, and problem-solving.

Our Coati & Raccoons enjoyed some enrichment in the form of boxed treats smothered in local honey straight out of the honeycomb 🐝

Think they all enjoyed their sweet treat πŸ˜‹

What a week it's been 😎🌞🀩

Wolds Wildlife Park would like to thank every single person who has visited the park this last week. The weather has been extremely kind, too kind on some days πŸ₯΅, and weeks like this really do make all the difference to small businesses.

The whole team have gone above & beyond this week & we would just like to thank them for all their efforts.

It's been so great to see so many families & friends enjoying a lovely day with one another. We can't wait for the summer holidays.

There is lots of new & exciting things to come 😍

🎈It's World Parrot day 🎈

World Parrot Day is celebrated annually on May 31st. Launched by the World Parrot Trust in 2004, this global event raises awareness about the conservation of wild parrots and the welfare of pet birds worldwide.

Launched in 2004 by the World Parrot Trust, it highlights the threatsβ€”like habitat loss and illegal tradeβ€”facing nearly one in three parrot species in the wild.

Here at Wolds Wildlife Park we have 3 types of parrots. We have Spartan the red and green macaw (also known as the green winged macaw), we have Athena the blue and yellow macaw (also known as the blue and gold macaw) & Bimbo our Triton cockatoo.

We are very lucky to have such stunning birds on the park.

On Bank Holidays & school holidays we try to put on some 'on the day' mini experiences that visitors can take part in. Which experiences we put on depends on what other bookings we have & our staff availability. These experiences can only be booked by visitors on the day.

Today six very lucky people got the opportunity to feed our eurasian brown bears, Maxi & Emilia. They had a great time & so did our bears with 6 people giving them food instead of just their Keeper!!

Thank you all for taking part & we hope you all enjoyed your mini bear experience.

Thank you to Keeper Dylan for arranging the experience & for taking pics πŸ“Έ

Flint, our male skunk 🦨, has been moved into his new enclosure. He was carefully placed into a crate, took the very short journey across Wolds Wildlife Park, and arrived at his new pad 🏠

This was done after the Park was closed so that it was quiet & he could spend the night getting used to his new home without anyone around. Substrate was moved from his temporary enclosure & used in his new 'bedroom' so that it smelt the same. And his sleeping box was also moved with him so that everything was kept as familiar to him as possible.

When moving animals from one place to another our aim is to make it as stress free as we can for the animal. Please note the actions in the video are sped up for easier viewing (everything was done at a nice slow pace).

Flint was checked late last night & early this morning & it seems he has had a great first night investigating his surroundings. He is now ready to meet all our visitors this week.

If you want to find Flints new enclosure it's between the Lynx enclosure & camel/zebra field, just up from the kookaburras.

He can't wait to meet you all 🀝

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Atila, our male Coati πŸ’”

He was taken to the vets after keepers noticed a sudden behaviour change. He had x-rays, scans & bloods taken. All efforts were made to do everything we could for him.

After spending the night in the hospital, being treated with meds whilst waiting for his results to come back, there was no change or improvement πŸ˜ͺ The very difficult decision was made to put poor little Atila to sleep. In his keepers arms he was given his wings πŸ•Š

Atila was a lovely little chap. Very friendly with everyone & at 12yrs old, a good age for a coati. After spending some time in his enclosure on his own, he was introduced to Phoenix, a female coati. This gave Atila a new lease of life & he was so much happier with her by his side. They were often seen frolicking around together πŸ’ž

Atila, you will be very missed by all of us at Wolds Wildlife Park Ltd, but mostly by your sidekick Phoenix. You were very brave & a gentleman until the end 😒
