Happy New Year everyone - we hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year and that you are all keeping well and safe.

We are still looking for kennels but we have a couple of dogs looking for homes from their own homes. Meantime, one of our supporters has kindly nominated Vigil for the SEIB Giving nominations - if you would like to nominate us as well, please click on the link below and put Vigil GSD Rescue's name in and charity number 289083.

We hope you and your dogs are keeping well. Thank you all for everything and all your support.

2022 will be the fifth year of the SEIB Giving campaign that not only provides funding, but also publicity for small to medium sized charities and we’ll be donating a whopping £50,000 to good causes across the country. CINDY 11 YEARS YOUNG

Cindy originally came into rescue 4 years ago as her owner was no longer able to look after her and she needed surgery on her knees. The surgery was successful and she was adopted shortly after. Sadly her new owner has now passed away and no one in the family is able to take her in. She is a lovely friendly girl who just wants to have fun. Despite her age she is fit and healthy and enjoys her daily walks. She's a bit bossy with other dogs and we think she would be better as an only dog and no cats. She has been around children and really just wants to make a fuss of everyone she meets. It would be sad if she were overlooked because of her age as she has so much love to give. Donation and homecheck applies. Please contact our rehoming team on 07889 289947

MIA and PUTCH

Urgent foster or forever home required for Mia and Putch. Mia is 8 and Putch is 11, and they are in need of a home as their owner has sadly passed away. We rehomed Putch back in 2012 and Mia has since joined him.
They are lovely friendly dogs and very relaxed. They are both food motivated and very well behaved. Mia is the darker of the two. They are currently in kennels but we would like to find them a home as soon as possible.
If you think you could give Mia and Putch a Foster or forever home please contact the rehoming team.

CALLIE REHOMED
Approximately 3 years
Callie was picked from a pound in Romania and bought to this country just before lockdown. She had very recently had puppies and had been spayed. Her first owner was unable to keep her and passed her to her current home.
She is a small and super friendly dog with people and is relaxed and happy in the home. She has a young female housemate and after some initial tensions they get on very well and love to play together. When out, however she can be very reactive to dogs if not introduced correctly. If the other dog is calm and polite she will be friends but if they are too pushy, she becomes over excited and snappy and this can lead to the other dog reacting badly.
She loves playing ball and would be easy to train using either a ball or treats as she also loves her food and treats. She needs more socialisation around other dogs to help her relax in their company. She hasn’t been tested with children but may be OK as she is very gently and cuddly.
Callie is a bit of an escape artist so will need training around doors and needs recall training. Unfortunately, she is looking for a new home through no fault of her own but her current owner has become unwell and unable to give her the exercise she needs at the moment. She could live with another dog if properly introduced. Not sure about cats and would probably be better in a cat free home.
Donation and home check apply please call our rehoming team for more details 07487809343.
