How well do you know your dog?
As a 2 dog household I've made it a point of making sure I understand both my dogs individual body language.
I know when they are happy, tired, sad, which is easy right?!
I know when out on a walk when both need a number 2!
I know when at home and the back door is closed and they need to go out and toilet they let me know.
I know when they are stressed or anxious.
I know when they are scared.
I know when they are unwell.
I know when they are in pain.
But dogs are great at hiding illness and pain and spotting it can become difficult.
The smallest and slightest change in your dog could be a sign of pain or illness.
A sudden change in behaviour. Your normally friendly, playful dog is now growling at dogs they've played with lots of times.
I noticed a change in Arlo's walk and it was really hard to see because he doesn't walk he bounds. I originally thought it was in my head. No-one else at home could see it.
I knew something wasn't right so took him to the vets and unfortunately I was right.
He has suspected double elbow dysplasia.
We are waiting on x-rays to confirm.
