Bite sized training easy to do anywhere on or off lead. All you need is a handful of tasty treats. Simple exercices are often the best

This exercise is especially fun for puppies, simple but very effective 🐾 encourages voluntary engagement.
Start somewhere quiet and enclosed with minimal distractions.
Introduce different environments and fade in distractions gradually 🐾

Im using a clicker to mark Beanie for engagement, you do not need to use a clicker you can use a verbal marker if you prefer.

If your puppy can’t play the game perhaps -
The environment is too exciting
Your treats are not tasty enough
Your puppy is tired etc…

Learning should always be fun
Happy dogs learn fast 🐾

Walking with your dog is completely different to taking your dog for a walk - Suzanne Clothier.

Walk time with you is the highlight of their day take time to enjoy it with them.

Love this ⬇️

Walk with me; don’t just walk me. Slow down and see the world as I do. I know you’ve got things to do, places to be. But out here, with the ground beneath our feet and the sky above us, there’s a whole world worth noticing.
The autumn chill is in the air today, crisp and full of new smells. It’s different from yesterday, and different from the day before. Every day is new. The leaves crunch under my paws, and I stop to breathe in the rich, earthy scent of them. To you, it might just be a pile of leaves, but to me, it’s a story—one I can’t help but dive into, nose first.
There’s a squirrel somewhere nearby, I can sense it, darting up a tree, its tiny heart beating fast. And the wind carries whispers of things far away: a family cooking dinner, the trace of a cat that passed by early this morning, and the faint perfume of flowers holding on to their last bit of summer. It’s all here, swirling around us if you just take the time to notice.
You tug on the leash, eager to move on, and I can tell you’re thinking about something far away from here. But when we walk, truly walk, you and I can be in this moment together. Feel the cool air brush against your skin, let it wake you up. Notice how the sun filters through the branches, casting shadows that dance on the pavement. Hear the crunch of the leaves beneath our steps, like a secret rhythm just for us.
To you, it might be just another walk, a daily routine to tick off the list. But for me, every step is an adventure. Each scent is a clue, each sound a piece of a puzzle. When you walk with me, really walk with me, you’ll see it too. The world is bigger than what we’re rushing toward. It’s right here, in the small moments, in the quiet spaces between your thoughts.
So, slow down. Breathe. Let the chill fill your lungs and the colours fill your eyes. Walk with me, don’t just walk me. See the world as I do, if only for a little while. It’s all waiting for you, just beneath the surface.

That time of year again 😬

I see posts suggesting the use of sound CD’s to help acclimatise dogs to fireworks:

Sound CD’s used correctly can be great for exposing puppies /dogs to different sounds.
However If your dog already has a problem with noise sensitivity, trying to counter condition when fireworks are randomly going off is unlikely to help and could make matters worse. ( too late something to think about for next year) perhaps seek help from a qualified behaviourist to guide you through the process.

There are lots of things you can do to support your dog.

Cuddling can bring comfort ( if your dog likes contact, stressed dogs can snap unexpectedly ) gentle massage and Tellington T.Touch can help some dogs feel better.

Close curtains and widows to sound proof as best as you can.
Give your dog a safe space, wherever they naturally feel comfortable, this could be in a crate covered in heavy blanket, the bathroom, under the bed, behind the sofa, Not all dogs will want this.

If your dog will eat:
Enrichment toys such as lick mats or kongs, sniffing and searching for hidden treats, mine love ostrich bones to chew, pizzle sticks etc, can help make some dogs feel better.

Playing soothing white noise, can be found on YouTube or download a free app, soft classical music etc..

A fan blowing gently can help block out firework noise

If your dog will play with toys this can be a great way to distract your dog.

Anxiety wraps, thundershirt, ear muffs may all help, however they would need to be introduced beforehand to ensure your dog is completely comfortable wearing them.

Adaptil spray, collars and plug ins, all worth a try.

Some dogs are so terrified none of the above will help, these dogs may need medication to help them through, highly recommend seeking the help of a qualified behaviourist/vet, dogs with noise phobias often have other anxiety issues, there are no quick fixes.

Keep dogs on leads, too many lost stolen dogs out there😢If you employ a dog walker make sure they do the same, a frightened dog can travel miles in a short time.
Dogs can also scale some pretty high fences when they are scared, don’t leave them unattended in the garden.

Don’t take your dog to displays, your dog may well be bomb proof.. however it can change in a flash, never worth the risk!

Hope the above is helpful 🤞

There is something special about a redemption story.
It occurs to me it’s often much like our own stories with our dogs….

Imagine the kind where the protagonist has flaws, but tries very hard.
Sets goals, dreams big, but faces adversity and challenges.
Sometimes they aren’t motivated, feel defeated or question their own abilities.
Yet, in the end, there is transformation—

Not because of God given talent and inherent skill but because they do the work.
They demonstrate grit, resilience and mental fortitude.
They learn from failures, seek help and move on quickly from defeat.
They understand they can either have regret or practice discipline, and choose the latter.

Most important to the story is the loyal partner.
One that inspires the lead character, forgives them all their imperfections;
loves them for not only for who they are, but for who they are trying to become.

The partner doesn’t care about ribbons, trophies or trials.
What matters is how they can read each others mind, the secret language they share and
all the tasks they accomplish, when no one is watching.
The partner knows the story is really about the time they spend together and their extraordinary bond,
that enriches the lead character’s life immeasurably.
The partner is the hero❤️

Planning on getting a dog, getting everything ready, leads, bedding, toys etc..is all part of the excitement🐾
preparing yourself with as much knowledge as possible prior to puppy’s arrival is equally as important.. 📖

If you already have a dog and training isn’t going to plan improving your understanding is key!

One of my favourite books, everything is explained well, easy reading for anyone wanting to understand and improve their knowledge and skills ⬇️
