⚠️ We have been contacted by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), part of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs regarding Blue/Green algal blooms that have been found in the Lower Bann River. ⚠️

People are advised not to swallow, swim or allow pets in the water. Avoid all contact with the algae as contact may result in skin rashes, eye irritation, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and/or muscle and joint pain.

👉 Members of the public can report a suspected bloom through the NIEA incident hotline on T: 0800 80 70 60 or e-mail [email protected] with a photo, if possible, and details on the location of the potential bloom.

Alternatively, the "Bloomin’ Algae" App enables members of the public to submit a photo of the bloom taken on their phone and state what activity takes place at the location, so that the potential risks to people and animals can be gauged.

The App is free to download directly from Google Play or App Store.

In a year were I have struggled to keep Holywoof going, due to the illness of a close family member and have failed to keep the FB page updated for sometime makes it even more special and inspiring. Cockapoos, cavapoodles, maltipoodles, puggles, etc! There are new ones being invented and sold every day for lots of money to buyers who don't care where their puppy comes from, and people who do, are being fooled into thinking it’s not a puppy farm. This is where they came from before being sold.

The red box you see can be filled with enough food and water to last 7 days. That means the puppy breeder can stock those, walk away and they won't have to return for a week. A lot of owners turn the lights off in that shed so they don't lose money on electricity.

But buyers won't see this. They will see an advert for a cute puppy online or wherever and will convince themselves that somehow this is different. It's not. Welfare laws allow these breeders to exist and for these puppies to be bought and sold. There is nothing ethical or kind here. It's all just money and the dogs are the product.
So before paying €1,500 - €3,000 for your dog, think about the horrible people you are giving your hard earned money to, and the poor mums you leave behind.
