Important bio security information for all equine competitors entering Honley Show! All important measures to help prevent the spread of equine influenza! πŸ¦ πŸ’‰πŸŒ‘οΈ

🐴 **IMPORTANT EQUINE PASSPORT, VACCINATION & BIOSECURITY INFORMATION – HONLEY SHOW** 🐴

To help protect the health and welfare of all horses and ponies attending Honley Show, please read the following information carefully.

πŸ“– **PASSPORTS**
All equines attending the show must be accompanied by their passport.

⚠️ ALL passports will be checked.

Please bring your passport with you when collecting your competitor number. Do not unload your horse or pony before collecting your number and having your passport checked.

No passport = No competitor number = No competing.

πŸ’‰ EQUINE INFLUENZA VACCINATIONS

β€’ All equines must have received an Equine Influenza vaccination within the last 12 months.

β€’ Where possible, we strongly recommend a booster vaccination within the last 6 months.

β€’ Horses and ponies must be at least 7 days clear of any Equine Influenza vaccination before competing to allow the vaccine time to take effect.

β€’ Any equine that has not received a vaccination within the last 12 months will not be permitted to compete.

πŸ“… Horses restarting their vaccination course πŸ“…

If your horse or pony is restarting its Equine Influenza vaccinations, it may compete provided it has received the first two injections of the primary course, these are correctly recorded in the passport, and the second injection was administered more than 7 days before the show.

🦠 **BIOSECURITY**
Equine Influenza can spread quickly through nasal discharge, direct horse-to-horse contact, contaminated hands, clothing, equipment and shared water sources.

Please help us reduce the risk by:
β€’ Not sharing water buckets, feed bowls, grooming equipment or tack.
β€’ Avoiding contact with horses and ponies that are not your own.
β€’ Washing or sanitising your hands regularly.
β€’ Not bringing any horse or pony showing signs of illness to the show.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us provide a safe and enjoyable show for everyone.

We look forward to welcoming you to Honley Show! 🐎

⚠️UK Equine Influenza Update⚠️

At the time of current reporting, there have not been any reported cases in our area however there are an increasing number of outbreaks of equine influenza (flu) across the UK.

Although not mandatory, if a horse has not had a flu vaccine in the last 6 months, a booster should be considered especially in high risk environments (yards with high flow of new arrivals and horses regularly travelling offsite).

We urge horse owners to be vigilant for the emergence of signs of respiratory disease (pyrexia, inappetence, coughing and nasal discharge) among animals under their care. This is particularly true among recently arrived and non-vaccinated animals, although signs in vaccinated horses should be taken seriously and also be investigated.

For a more detailed summary please visit the EIDS website or read the latest update here:https://equinesurveillance.org/landing/resources/EIDS_EI_update_14052026.pdf
