Whilst it is going to be hot for the next week, please don't take your dogs out in the heat of the day or evening.

Check the pavement with the back of your hand, if it is hot = please don't walk your dog
If the temperature is above 20c (68F) it is getting to hot to walk your dog = please leave them at home, to rest in the cool.

Heatstroke can kill your dog and it can suddenly happen = Excessive panting
Gums become a deeper red than usual
Increased heart rate
Excessive drooling
Seizure
Collapse
EMERGENCY = SEEK VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY - remove the dog to a cool/shaded area, cool them (with cool water, not iced) down to reduce the temperature. if you have a fan or in the car put the air conditioning on whilst you drive to the vet.

Leaving your dog at home and only taking them out to go to the toilet = Happy, safe, cool dog.

Give your dog Kong's to play with or frozen treats, vegetables (safe ones) fruit for them to gnaw on. There are amazing mind games to amuse your dog on various internet sites, for these hot days when they do not need to be walked, which will tire them out and keep them amused, instead of a walk.
