I have just emailed Broxbourne Council, to ask if the Dog Wardens would be willing to put advisory notes out in all the parks. To remind dog owners not to walk their dogs in the day, during this heat and to give advise on the signs and treatment of heatstroke is in dogs.

May be they will reply, we can hope.

Hi, please keep you selves and your dogs, and all your pets cool during this heatwave, especially for Wednesday and Thursday, when the extreme heat is running. Try not to walk your dogs in the heat! Early morning or late evening are the best times or even better don't take them out, except for toilet breaks.

Dogs love ice cubes, with treats in or frozen yogurt, if they can tolerate it. Treats in a water bowl, alongside their normal bowl of water, will encourage them to drink, as they bob for the treats.

For all my clients, classes are cancelled, until this heat dissipates and when we see the cooler weather, we can resume training. If you need any support with training concerns, just call me.
