Meet the gorgeous Willow, this week’s superstar at Dogwood Referrals! 💖

Willow had a rare condition called Pes Varus, causing her leg to bend inward, something we occasionally see in dachshunds 🐶.

Working with Fusion Implants, we used custom-made guides to plan and perform surgery that straightened her leg with precision.
She’s now healing brilliantly and already back to her cheeky self! 💪💕

Everyone, meet Addie! 🐶

Addie popped in to see us as her owners were concerned about a lump that had appeared. After a careful examination, the team suggested Addie have surgery to remove the lump and she is now recovering and doing well.

🌺 Bella lost 5kg on our weight clinic 🌺

Meet beautiful Bella.

Bella was a little on the chunkier side and needed to lose some weight, she joined Gina’s weight clinic and her owner worked really hard to stick to the diet requirements and exercise routine.

Bella visited monthly for measurements and weight checks over time we gradually watched the kilos drop on the scales and Bella had met her 5kg weight loss target.

When she first started coming she would sit under the chair frightened and hide, we slowly built up a bond with Bella and now she bounces on in looking for fuss from all of the girls ♥️

We are very proud of you Bella, we hope you enjoy your Toy and your certificate.

🐶 If your pet is over weight give us a call, we are happy to support you in whichever way we can.

Brachycephalic breeds are more at risk of heat stroke due to their narrow airways.

Pugs/ bulldogs/french bulldogs etc

Dogs cannot sweat they pant to cool down, this means a dog with compromised airways is more at risk of over heating as they already at risk of over heating.

Keep them cool 🧊

Do not walk them, best not to in the cooler evenings/morning as well as it’s still warm.

Know the signs of heat stroke if they are suffering cool them quickly and seek veterinary help

‼️ Hot Weather ‼️

Today is going to be extremely hot!

Heat stroke is a real thing and we are seeing more and more of this and sadly this can be fatal to your pets!

Do not walk your dogs in this heat one missed walk will not harm them but the heat will.

If you have Bunnies, guinea pigs housed outside please either move them into a cool shaded area or inside in the cool.

⚠️ Dogs and cats can still over heat from just laying out in the sun so be cautious! ⚠️

🚨 Most common Signs of heat stroke 🚨

Excessive panting
Drooling
Lethargy
Vomiting
Collapse

It’s important you seek advice as urgently as possible if you believe your pet has heat stroke!

Call your vet straight away if you believe your pet has heat stroke our number is 01702 200300.

Dental hygiene 🦷

It is very important to keep on top of your pet’s teeth to prevent gingivitis, plague build up and tooth decay/loss.

All of these conditions are painful to your pet and require veterinary attention.

This very lovely boy had a conscious scale away from the vets rather than a dental with us at the vets as you can see from the top picture this was after the conscious scale, there is still build up on the teeth and many need removing.

On a visit to us for a dental check we could tell this lovely boy needed some teeth removed and the teeth cleaned properly. After a scale and polish and many teeth removed, his mouth was in much better health.

Please visit your vet who can assess your pet’s teeth before seeking advice elsewhere, otherwise you pet may end up having treatment twice.
