At Welcome Little Paws your little doggy is always our priority. *We do not walk our doggies in temperatures over 24 degrees in the day.
*We always test pavement in our bare feet if it is too hot for us it is certainly too hot for little paws.
*Our walks are mainly on grass and in shaded areas during hot spells and we walk early morning and evening. If it is too hot then no walks and comfort breaks are restricted to garden under supervision and never left outside even in shaded area. *Fresh water changed regularly throughout day with ice cubes to keep chilled.
*As part of our licence conditions we always carry water and first aid kits on every walk.
*We always have fans in the house to keep the air moving and for your pet’s comfort with cool tiled flooring for keeping cool.
*We are first aid trained and always on alert for heat stroke

What a lovely walk today with this gorgeous girl, past Gerry’s hole in Ickleford. A nice paddle in the river and watched the baby ducks in awe!

Unfortunately kennel cough virus is rife in Hertfordshire currently.

If your dog is showing any of the following signs, please keep your dog isolated from other dogs, do not walk them in busy areas.

Key Signs and Symptoms:

Distinctive Cough:

A persistent, harsh, dry, and forceful cough.

"Honking" Sound: Often described as a "goose honk".

Gagging or Retching: Coughing may end with a retch or gag, sometimes producing white, foamy mucus.

Worse with Activity: The cough often intensifies with exercise, excitement, or pressure on the throat.

Upper Respiratory Signs: Sneezing, runny nose, or eye discharge.

General Malaise: Mild fever, reduced appetite, or decreased energy (lethargy).

They can still be infectious 2 weeks after the symptoms has gone. Please do not take to the groomers or on group walks as kennel cough is a viral infection and will normally just clear up on its own.

It is highly contagious transmitted by airborne particals , nasal discharge off the ground etc

Although the vaccine will not stop them contracting the virus, it can make the symptoms less severe.

Please be vigilant and keep an eye on your dogs.
