🎉The Little Grooming House is back open!🎉

I am very pleased to let you know that after being closed for maternity leave that I am back open 🤗. My new opening hours will be 9-5 Monday, Thursday & Friday 🕘-🕔
I currently have capacity to take on a few more doggies so do get in touch if you would like to book an appointment📆
Thank you very much for your patience during my leave, it has been a really lovely time in my life with our little lad💙. He loves animals and one of his first words has fittingly been 'doggy’ 🐶. Perhaps a little helper in the making in years to come😍

🔹TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR MATERNITY LEAVE🔹

The time has come for me to say goodbye for a few months as we await the arrival of our newest and littlest member of the team 🤰🏽

I can’t thank all of my wonderful customers and doggies enough for your custom, patience and generosity - particularly over the past year. Everyday with your furry friends is genuinely such a pleasure and I am really going to miss fussing them something special! 💛

I will be back in the new year and will post update as soon as I have confirmed the date 📅

Wishing you all the very best in the meantime, and I look forward to welcoming you back in 2022 🐶🚿✂️

I am sad to say that The Little Grooming House is currently closed until further notice. This comes following an update from the Pet Industry Federation as DEFRA has now stated that all dog groomers must close.
The guidance now states that only dogs with severely matted coats or dogs who are referred from the vets with skin conditions can be groomed. This is obviously such a difficult position to be in as I see it as my duty of care to prevent your dogs becoming matted when they come for their regular grooms.
In the same breath however, it is important to do everything we can to prevent the spread of the virus.
All I can ask is that you keep brushing your doggies religiously during this time to keep their coats nice and healthy until I can see them again.
If you do however believe your dog to be a welfare case please get in touch. I will need to have a video consultation with you to determine whether your dog fits the criteria for a groom as we have been told to take photo and video evidence of each dog we groom as proof that they are a welfare case.
All appointments are now cancelled until further notice, and as with the last lockdown in March, when I know when I can reopen I will contact those who had appointments in the diary to rebook as a priority.
Thank you for bearing with me. Take care & stay safe,
Georgie x x

Well, what a year 2020 has been. I can’t thank my lovely customers enough for making this year the busiest one yet for The Little Grooming House. Something I don’t take for granted given the unexpected hand that 2020 has dealt us. On a personal note, it has provided me with so much peace & distraction to the world outside - dogs never fail to make us smile, comfort us, or just straight up make you belly laugh. For that I count myself unbelievably lucky❤️🌈
My thoughts however are with those that are sadly no longer with us, you’ll never be forgotten💫
Looking to the new year, to ensure all of my wonderful doggies receive the attention they deserve I have stopped taking on new clients. This has meant my online booking system is offline currently so please get in touch with me directly to book your pup’s next appointment if you haven’t done so already.
As for now and the current lockdown, The Little Grooming House remains open to ensure your dog’s coats and nails are kept healthy. However, the highest priority is continuing to operate in a Covid-safe manner. Here’s a reminder of the procedures in place:
📌 I implore that if you or anyone in your household shows any of the symptoms or are suspected of having Covid-19 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 until a time you are fully recovered. I will make it a priority to rebook your dog as soon as possible once your household’s isolation period has been completed, but this is a request I couldn’t emphasise more. In return, I will not be working if I or anyone in my household feels remotely unwell
📌 When you arrive for your appointment please park on the drive and come straight through the side gate on your arrival (the handles are cleaned between dogs)
📌 Please wear a mask (unless you are unable for medical reasons) and maintain social distancing
📌 Any collars and leads left with me are placed in the uv steriliser whilst your dog is being groomed
📌 The studio is cleaned between dogs with a pet safe disinfectant and my hands are frequently sanitised during each groom
Thank you again for your support and loyalty. I feel incredibly lucky to groom some of the loveliest doggies in the area🤗💙
All the very best for 2021!

✨WE’RE STILL OPEN✨

I am delighted to let you know that The Little Grooming House can remain open throughout this lockdown!🎉
To ensure everyones safety I will be continuing to implement the strict procedures I have in place to ensure the health and wellbeing of you and your dog:
⚠️ Operating Procedures ⚠️
🐾 When you arrive for your appointment please could I ask that you park on the drive, which will minimise contact with passers by
🐾 Please come straight through the side gate on your arrival (the handles are cleaned between dogs)
🐾 Please wear a mask (if you can) and maintain social distancing
🐾 There is a tether point on the grass next to the studio, please attach your dog’s lead to this. I will then pop their collar and lead in the uv steriliser whilst your dog is being groomed
🐾 If you or anyone in your household shows any of the symptoms of Covid-19 please could I ask you cancel your appointment until a time you are fully recovered
🐾 In return, I will not be working if I feel remotely unwell
🐾 The studio will be cleaned between dogs with a pet safe disinfectant proven on the virus.
Please note that I am fully booked for the rest of 2020 and I am also no longer taking on new doggies. For the meantime I have taken down my online booking system in order to manage bookings for January. If you would like to book an appointment please let me know.
I cant thank enough all of my wonderful customers for their support and loyalty, and for recommending me to their furry friends!

Day 6 of the Instagram Challenge - CUSTOMERS - “High five them and share some of the heartfelt comments about your work”✋🏼
It is such an honour to me to be chosen and trusted to be a dog’s groomer and I am so grateful to have some of the loveliest customers - doggies and human🤗 One of the things I really love about this job is getting to meet people from the local community, and is something that I didn’t realised I missed out on when I was working in London. It so nice be able to chat and build relationships with customers over time, I really have met some of the loveliest people☺️
To everyone who has brought their dog to me, recommended me to their family and friends, written a review, tagged house - a true and proper THANK YOU!🌟
⁣Swipe 👉🏼 to read some of the lovely reviews that i’ve been lucky enough to receive. When one of these pop up it all makes it feel the most worthwhile💗

Day 5 of the indie_roller Instagram Challenge - CHALLENGE - “Share an obstacle you’ve overcome”🌈
It’s fair to say I meet a different challenge every day with every dog I meet. Every dog has different likes and dislikes and it’s a voyage of discovery to find the best way to work with each dog🚢🐶
When I started out I had a pup come to me who had a difficult start in life as he was only one and had recently lost an eye😢 After his surgery he had to have a cone on for a long time, which resulted in his coat getting matted. The the poor little guy was so reactive and hated his head being touched. That groom took so long; it was done mostly with scissors as he couldn’t tolerate the clippers, and with my husband drafted in to cuddle him whilst I snipped as quick as I could. That was one of the hardest grooms I’ve ever done🥵
That little guy has come to me every eight weeks since and over that time, little by little his confidence has grown and grown. Each time he’s relaxed a little bit more, and let me do a little bit more. It was actually his last visit that he let me use clippers over his head, which feels like the biggest achievement🌟
Learning how to work with ‘difficult’ dogs has by far been my biggest challenge, but also my biggest achievement. It has come from recognising they aren’t ‘difficult’ dogs, they are just scared, stressed, anxious.. Just approaching them with compassion, patience and lots of treats can work wonders💜🦴

Day 4 of the indie_roller Instagram Challenge - SUPPORT NETWORK - “who keeps you going? We all need cheerleaders, who are yours?”
This post is going to sound like one of those Oscar speeches that goes on a bit too long 😄…
I am so so lucky to have such supportive family and friends who have all been totally behind me every step of the way🥰
Nonesomore than my wonderful husband . He has genuinely only had supportive, positive and encouraging words to say from the day I floated the idea of past him to now. He helps me celebrate the highs and hugs me through the tired lows. For all that I am eternally grateful, he really keeps my feet steady❤️
My mum, dad & brother have also been incredibly supportive. I was really worried about telling them about my new business idea at first as I was sure they’d think I’d gone bananas ...but they have been nothing but amazing and happy for me that I’ve found a career that I genuinely love💜
I am also super grateful for who has been a huge supporter and producer of many a great idea, and of course my branding which I love so so much! I feel the luckiest to have her design it for me as she has got the touch✨🎨
All of my friends have been so wonderful too, particularly who helped me figure out my career change🍷 and and the amazing community who have been behind me all the way. Thank you!!
And Tinker, she’s the best!😊
All in all, I am a lucky girl! 🍀

DAY 3 of the Instagram Challenge - WORKSPACE - “Lets celebrate the spaces you make all the magic happen, & share a productivity tip”
I am so fortunate to have the best workspace I could have imagined. is literally that, at the top of the garden. The studio was purpose built last year by who were absolutely incredible and have given me a workspace I’m really proud of.
Apart from the obvious benefits of working from home, having the studio in the garden works so well. It’s nice for the dogs to have sniff around on arrival, they like to look out the window and bark at the birds when they are having their hair cut and sometimes do full on zoomies around the garden on the way out 😅
My productivity tip is to leave your workplace as you’d like to find it. Even before Covid, I would do a full on clean up after each dog, so it’s nice and fresh for the next one🧼 Sometimes I’m pretty pooped and hungry after a long day, but I never leave the studio without a good clean at the end of the day - leaving a fresh studio and and ultimately a fresh mind for the next day✨

Day 2 of the Instagram Challenge | WORK - “Group together your favourite pieces to create a well lit photo”
Apologies for being a day late🙈 Following lockdown and the what was hot weather🙁, things have been a bit crackers , and I ran out of time yesterday🙈 So here comes day 2 for now 🤗
Swipe 👉🏼 for a little selection of dog grooms 🦁 | 🐶 Before and after transformations of really scruffy dogs are SO satisfying. There is nothing better than making a doggy not only look better, but feel better. This has been particularly true following lockdown as there have been lots of dogs whose coats have gotten too long and subsequently become really matty. It’s a pleasure to be able to get them back into shape again, and you can just tell sometimes when a dog leaves that they feel so much better. I often hear from owners too that their dogs have a real swing in their step following a groom, which is just so lovely to hear🤗
I wholeheartedly believe though that it’s my job to ensure that no matter what that wellbeing of the dog comes first. I spend a lot of time trying to build the trust with the doggies that come to me. It’s a fact that a lot of dogs don’t like having their hair done, and some are genuinely petrified of the drier or standing on a table. But I will always read them and do whatever it takes to keep them as comfortable as possible, whilst making sure their coat is well maintained. This means that sometimes a dog won’t leave with an instagram perfect haircut, but I’m okay with that as I know I’ve done my bit to keep their stress levels as low as I can.
A lesson that Day 2 has taught me is that I am terrible at remembering to take photos, something I will endeavour to do more of, but it’s great at looking back at the ones I do have📸 I can definitely see how I’ve developed since I’ve started. Going to seminars and watching online webinars has helped me so much, it’s great to soak up what I can from some of the best and finding out about new kit and products.
One of the things that helps me most on a day to day basis as I groom is that I always say to myself “this is going to be the best wash/blow dry/ear clean/leg....” whatever it is, just a reminder to do every single step to the best of my abilities (doggo allowing😅). That way there is no space for shortcuts with the way I do things ✅

🌈⭐️This week I’ll be taking part in the challenge, where I’ll be sharing a bit more about me and my little business. This is spurred on by the encouragement of my brothers very talented girlfriend who designed branding and logo 🙌🏼 ⭐️🌈
DAY 1 | YOU - “Share with us the ‘let’s do this’ moment when you decided to start your indie biz”💫
Well, I have to be honest - owning a dog grooming business was not something ever I imagined I’d be doing if you asked my younger self. After uni I went on to work in London following a career path in marketing and went from working at an agency to in my last role working at a private bank. I’ve been so lucky to have done so many cool things and met so many wonderful people, but I came to a point in my life where I realised I really just wanted to do things my way.
It took me a lonnnng time to work out the plan but with a little help from my friends and family, the idea of doing my qualifications in dog grooming and setting up a little business of my own made ALL the sense🐶🐾
I can’t explain how much difference taking the plunge and changing my career has made to my life. I am genuinely so much happier..who wouldn’t be though working with doggies every day🤗 Setting up my business and running it my way according to my beliefs has been so empowering and has given me more job satisfaction than I knew was possible☀️
N.B. I tried to take off with Rummy, but he couldn’t reach the pedals 😅

This doggie knows it. BLACK LIVES MATTER 🖤🐾

After such a troubling week, this post is terribly overdue. For no other excuse, other than I’ve found it really hard to put my thoughts and feelings into words. But I’ve been watching and listening. I’ve spent time trying to best understand and educate myself about the true extent of the problem. What I’ve read and listened to as the week has gone on, has been nothing other than tragic, heartbreaking and just flat out wrong.

From all this, I can’t help but feel guilty, and sorry. There is no doubt in my mind that my life has benefitted from being white. Inequality, whether it be race, gender, sexual orientation is unforgivable, and our world needs to shift to be accepting and unbiassed. It’s not an easy or comfortable thing to address, as whether we realised it or not it is ingrained in our society. But, I wholeheartedly promise to do my bit towards that shift.

I won’t hope for things to be better, I won’t ‘not be racist’, I will be anti-racist.

That’s a promise from me and The Little Grooming House.
