❤️ Let’s talk hearts! 🫀🐾
Did you know that if your vet detects a heart murmur during a routine health check or vaccination appointment, it can sometimes be a sign of underlying heart disease?
Our vet Beverley has a wealth of experience in cardiology and cardiac ultrasounds, and is on hand to investigate potential heart problems. Early investigation can help us reach a diagnosis sooner, closely monitor changes and, where appropriate, start treatment at the right time💊
Meet Paddy, who recently came in for his heart scan with Beverley! 🐶
Paddy has Stage B1 mitral valve disease, which means he has changes to his mitral valve but no enlargement of his heart at present. He doesn’t currently require cardiac medication, but regular monitoring and repeat heart scans are important so that we can keep an eye on any progression.
Paddy was an absolute star for his scan! Our PCA Lucy, along with work experience students Ash and William, made sure he was kept calm, comfortable and thoroughly fussed throughout. 🥰

And Paddy has an extra special connection to the practice — he belongs to Niamh, one of our final-year veterinary students, who will be joining our team as a vet in January! Beverley has helped teach Niamh throughout her veterinary placements here, so it was particularly lovely to have Paddy in for his scan and bring things full circle. ❤️🩺
