This week we got to welcome a new vet and a pile of 2 week old puppies to the practice! 🥰
Rebecca has joined our fantastic team of vets, and she had the honour of meeting these lovely working sight hounds. They'll be following their parent's footsteps and will go through training to be sports and assistance dogs when they're a bit older!

When Jessie's owners adopted her, they noticed a hard lump in her chest, which turned out to be a small pellet. This angel hasn't let the situation affect her, and gave the team so much love and joy when she came in to have it removed 🥰
We're all wishing her a speedy recovery (but we would definitely enjoy her visiting us for cuddles!)

Handsome Harry came in for a check up when he got a poorly tummy after a fun weekend at the beach before the weather got too hot 🏖
He's on the mend now and probably counting down the days til his next adventure!

Beautiful Lemmie the Senegal Parrot came in to have his beak and nails trimmed 💚 He sat on Katie's finger to show off his new look when he was done!
He was very tolerant and allowed us to do this while conscious (with breaks), but a lot of birds find it too stressful and need some anaesthesia.
Some caged birds can have overgrowth and malalignment of their beaks for a range of reasons (e.g. not wearing it down themselves, trauma, infection, etc). We carefully shorten and reshape their beaks to make sure they are comfortable and functional again 😊

Daisy the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel visited the Stokenchurch branch to be neutered and she made sure she got cuddles from everyone by giving them this look of love! Would you believe she's over 3 years old?! 😍
As Daisy is so dinky, weighing only 5.7kg, we had to take extra precautions to make sure she didn’t get too cold during surgery. She enjoyed her pink blanket and is seen here wearing her body suit (included with neutering, or available to buy for other conditions/procedures) to give her an extra bit of warmth!

Did you know that we can microchip more than just cats and dogs? Grougaloragran the tortoise came to see Thomas to have one implanted!
Tortoises are notorious for digging their way out of the garden and going for a slow-paced adventure, so microchipping is recommended to make sure they get back home safe and sound. It's still best to check the security of their area regularly, but it's good to have peace of mind! 🐢
ADDED COMMENT: there is a size requirement for this. As a rule of thumb, the tortoise needs to be bigger than a saucer!

Raya was giving the nursing team a not-so-subtle sign that she was ready for a meal after her surgery!

When pets come in for an anaesthetic or sedation, we need to make sure their stomach is empty or there is high risk that they can regurgitate. Once they've recovered, our nurses offer them a small, bland meal, and recommend that they continue bland food at home as the drugs can make them feel a bit queasy. Obviously Raya felt fine!

This gorgeous little gent called Jeffrey came in for a dental on Monday. Sadly he had to have 10 teeth removed but this will make him feel more comfortable and his breathe will smell sweeter!

Of course a cuddle from Paige was also necessary!

Diesel was hospitalized at the Stokenchurch hospital after he swallowed a piece of toy and had to have it removed. He had baths (which he loved) and enjoyed lots of cuddles and attention.
