Hi, I'm Amy-Beth, 39 years old, and I'm the owner/operator of Furry Popins - Dog Walking and Pet Sitting services on The Wirral. I trained and worked in the NHS for 20 years, until Pandemic Burnout lead me to re-evaluate and follow my passion of working with animals! I've been passionate about animals from a very young age, getting my first cat at 7 years old, and then (after a long campaign to my

parents!) my first Dog - Sasha, an Akita Inu, at 14 years Old. It was with Sasha that I discovered my love of working with dogs, and we competed in Dog Showing, Advanced Level Obedience, and even tried our hand at Agility and Flyball! As a teenager I gained my first job as a Kennel and Cattery Assistant, later moving onto Pet Sitting. With over 25 years of experience with animals, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in caring for pets of all shapes and sizes. I am Qualified in Level 2 OFQUAL Canine Care & Behaviour, DBS Checked, Fully Insured and Pet First Aid & CPR Trained. I am also passionate about Force/Fear Free and Positive Reinforcement Training. I have my own online platform and app for you to easily manage your pet care, and you will receive personalised updates and pictures via the app of your pets walk or pet sit!

3 Years ago today we lost the most special cat in the world 💔 Duke (aka Pookie) was hit by a car when he was 6 years old, sustaining a traumatic brain injury that rendered him blind, along with a slew of other complex medical issues, including being tube fed for a while. Despite this, we managed to keep him going for another 6 years, and as you can probably tell from the pictures, he was the happiest cat you could ever meet and still full of life! His favourite place in the world was cuddled up as close to me as possible! We miss you Duke ❤️

A life long dream came true yesterday - My first time ever at Crufts! Myself and my fellow Doggo Besties & had an amazing time yesterday! They have both given some excellent commentary on our reasons for attending (go check out their recent posts), and although I am not a Dog Trainer myself, I do very much see myself as a force-free advocate. About 20 years ago, I used to Show with my Akita, and I have really gone back and forth with the idea of showing again with .loki, because of the issues with use of aversives etc in showing. I was saddened to see some very poor handling at times yesterday, and some very stressed dogs, but I also wonder if I could be a force (free!) for good from within the showing world, to advocate for dogs and use of positive reinforcement handling in ring craft. I was extremely encouraged to hear of a top level handler who withdrew her BOB soft coated wheaten from the Terrier Group judging after the dog became stressed backstage. THIS is the standard we need to push forward in dog showing, the dog’s welfare comes first. Always.
