Cattery Assistant – Zero Hours Contract
Location: Boma Cattery, PR4
Age Requirement: 18+ only
Contract Type: Zero Hours
Pay: National Minimum Wage (based on age bracket)

We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cattery Assistant to join our team on a flexible, zero-hours basis. This role is ideal for someone studying Animal Care, Veterinary Nursing, or a similar subject, and offers hands-on experience in a professional, welfare-focused setting.

Please note:
This is a zero-hours role, and weekly shifts are not guaranteed. It is primarily to provide staff holiday cover, with additional shifts during weekends, summer, and school holiday periods.

Typical Shift Times:
• Morning: 07:30–10:30
• Evening: 16:00–18:00
• Shifts mainly at weekends, with occasional weekday cover as needed

Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and disinfecting cat pens and general cattery areas
Feeding and monitoring the cats, including basic treatments when required
Customer service at drop-off/collection
Taking payments and assisting with admin
Using basic online systems for bookings and updates (training provided)
Maintaining high standards of hygiene, care, and communication

Requirements:
Genuine interest in animal care and welfare
Responsible, trustworthy, and able to follow clear protocols
Confident with cleaning duties and cat handling
Good communication skills and basic IT confidence
Own transport is essential unless within walking distance – public transport links are very

🌟 🐾 🐱 Exciting News! 🐱🐾🌟

Many of you will know that as well as running our cattery, I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse and we also have a canine rehabilitation centre.
I’m really excited to announce that we are soon adding a therapeutic Class IV Laser to our services!

Laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that can help speed up healing, reduce pain and inflammation, and improve quality of life and it’s suitable for cats too! and more importantly tolerated very well!!

Some of the most common uses for cats include:

🩷Post-surgical healing (spay, neuter, orthopaedic surgery)
💜Wound healing and abscess treatment
💚Managing arthritis and musculoskeletal pain
🤍Dental issues such as gingivitis, stomatitis, and after extractions
🩵Skin conditions like dermatitis, feline acne, and lick granulomas
🩶Support for conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, and urinary tract issues

🌟Laser therapy sessions are quick, gentle, and very well tolerated by cats.

🚗 We are offering home visits in Hesketh Bank, Tarleton and surrounding areas, or you can visit us at Nell’s Pet Care and Hydrotherapy, Blackgate Lane Retail Park.

£22 per session (home visits may incur an additional fee) 🐾 a vet referral letter is required before starting treatment which we can easily arrange.

📢 Important Booking Reminder – Deposits Required to Secure Your Cat’s Stay! 🐾

We’re excited to welcome lots of new and returning clients to Boma Cattery this year! To ensure your booking is confirmed, a deposit is required at the time of booking.

🐾 How it works:

✅ Once you send a booking in, you will receive an email with deposit information
✅ A chaser email will be sent if a deposit isn’t received
✅ If no payment is made within 48 hours, the booking will be removed
✅ Please check your emails, including spam/junk folders!

To avoid losing your cat’s room, please make sure to pay your deposit promptly. Thank you for your understanding and support—we can’t wait to see you and your cats soon! 🐱💙
