Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare We are a registered independent charity based in Hersham, Surrey devoted to the caring for and homing

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare is devoted to caring for retired racing greyhounds and finding them homes. We are self-funding and rely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters and the general public. We care for approximately 50-60 greyhounds at our kennels in Hersham, with the majority of these gifted onto us by their owners or trainers once their racing days are over. However, when necessary

we do step in and help those less fortunate greyhounds who are at risk, as and when we are able. We take in all colours and personalities regardless of their homing chances. We operate a ‘no destruction’ policy, which means that no greyhound will be put to sleep except on health grounds when there is no other option. For those greyhounds with long term medical or behavioural issues we have The Sanctuary – their home for as long as they need it. We actively promote the fact that greyhounds make wonderful pets and adapt to life after racing very well.

GOODNIGHT, OUR DARLING LILY
We are all devastated at the sad loss of our beautiful, always happy, 4 year old fawn greyhound girl, Lily. We are heartbroken that she never made it to the home she was destined for. May she rest in peace. Always loved; never forgotten.

😍Happy, Loving Spike😍

Spike is looking for his loving home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Spike seems a lovely, affectionate boy. He came up straight away for a hug, was nice with his kennel mate, Minnie and had a very happy waggy tail. He seems a good natured boy. Greyhounds are a generally gentle breed and only need 2x30 minutes walks a day. To find out more about greyhounds, watch our videos of those looking for homes, as well as homing and walking videos. These give an idea of their personalities, but they truly become themselves once in a loving, stable home where they feel safe. https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/ "

😍Sweet, Affectionate Lottie😍

Lottie is looking for her loving home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Lottie seems a sweet-natured, small girl. She walked beautifully, enjoyed receiving some well-deserved love and was nice with William who was walking with her. She had only arrived the day before and was still finding her paws in this new world at the kennels. But as you'll see later in the video, had already worked out and enjoyed treats.. to watch the videos of some of the 50 greyhounds looking for homes and learn more about this wonderful, generally gentle and understated breed, visit the profile page: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/ "

😍Sweet, Affectionate Minnie😍

Minnie is looking for her home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Minnie seems a sweet, affectionate little girl. She was nice with her kennel mate, Spike, walked nicely and seems an all round easy-going girl. Greyhounds make wonderful pets, often walk nicely and are used to living in small spaces - so the fact they're a bigger breed than some doesn't matter. They're often quite unassuming and gentle and only need about 2x30 mins walks a day. To learn more about greyhounds and some of the 50 looking for homes, visit the profile page where you'll see videos showing their different personalities. They're a gem of a breed :-) : https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/ "

😍Loving, Gentle William😍

William is looking for his home. A volunteer has done a video and says:

"William seems such a sweet-natured boy. His video highlights many of the characteristics typical of greyhounds - he seems unassuming, gentle, affectionate and an absolute breeze to walk. He hadn't been long in kennels and was doing well finding his feet. Greyhounds are a taller breed than many, but they often walk nicely and are used to living in small spaces in kennels. They don't need lots of exercise. Just 2x30 minutes a day and are happy relaxing the rest of the day. See the page with some of the 50 greyhounds looking for homes and how they all have their own characters https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/ "

😍Gentle, Huggy Charlie😍

Charlie is looking for his forever home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Charlie seemed to have a lovely energy. He came up for hugs and ear rubs and even enjoyed it while walking. He loved having a cuddle with volunteers as you'll see. And walked nicely. An all round lovely boy. Boys often take longer to home, as most people choose girls, so do keep an open minded. As with Charlie, they're often just as loving and easy to walk." Charlie's profile will follow and be added to this page where you can see all the 50 greyhounds looking for homes: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/

😍Easy-going, Gentle Bubba😍

Bubba is looking for his home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Bubba seems a lovely gentle, easy-going boy. He walked well and responsively to the lady walking him, was nice with his lady kennel mate and enjoyed a fuss. Boys often take longer to home, as most people ask for girls. So do keep an open mind as the boys are just as deserving." His profile is here: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/bubba/ and the page with the profiles of all the 50 hounds looking for homes is here: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/ It has been updated recently, with some more new hounds to follow.
