Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare We are a registered independent charity based in Hersham, Surrey devoted to the caring for and homing

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare is devoted to caring for retired racing greyhounds and finding them homes. We are self-funding and rely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters and the general public. We care for approximately 50-60 greyhounds at our kennels in Hersham, with the majority of these gifted onto us by their owners or trainers once their racing days are over. However, when necessary

we do step in and help those less fortunate greyhounds who are at risk, as and when we are able. We take in all colours and personalities regardless of their homing chances. We operate a ‘no destruction’ policy, which means that no greyhound will be put to sleep except on health grounds when there is no other option. For those greyhounds with long term medical or behavioural issues we have The Sanctuary – their home for as long as they need it. We actively promote the fact that greyhounds make wonderful pets and adapt to life after racing very well.

😍Handsome, Patient Cheesy😍

Cheesy is looking for his home and Sophi has done a video of him. She says:

"Cheesy is a hidden gem. I saw him briefly on one visit then again another time. And that was when I saw what a gem he is. He was lovely with my boy - even licked him one time, walked alongside him nicely and loved a cuddle too. He was keen to walk, and is a big lad, but look past that to his temperament. My boy is a big boy too and at 5 foot 4 I wondered how that would be for me. But it was fine. And his temperament is gorgeous. I see that similar gentleness in Cheesy." 'JESS'S 100 MILE WALK FOR WIMBLEDON GREYHOUND WELFARE'
****************************** PLEASE SUPPORT NEW HOUND OWNER, JESS, ON HER 100 MILE WALK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE HERSHAM HOUNDS.....
Easter bunny boy, Nero, (was Buddy in the kennels), is very proud of his new mum for thinking of his old mates at the kennels. She has set herself the difficult challenge of walking 100 miles to raise funds for our adorable homeless hounds who we will take care of for as long as they need us, until they find a loving forever home, like darling Nero. Looking after so many hounds means every penny counts, so please help Jess help us by sponsoring her personal endeavour to give back to the charity that cared for Nero when he needed us.
A huge thank you to Jess and to all of you kind folk who are able to support 'Jess's 100 Mile Walk for WGW'.

😍Handsome, Affectionate Sox😍

Sox is looking for his home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Sox came keenly out of kennels and then enjoyed a lean against his walker. He was new in to kennels and seems to be alert to what is going on - as is often so for greyhounds new to the outside world. It can all seem quite a lot initially compared to what they've known. He seemed an affectionate boy and has lovely white socks and adorable ears!" 😍Happy, Gentle Jimmy😍

2 year old Jimmy is looking for his home and a volunteer did a video of him. She says:

"Jimmy seems a lovely, happy young boy. He walked nicely with a cute tail wag, was nice with his kennel mate, Lizzo and seemed affectionate too. Boys often take longer to home than girls, so keep an open mind. Gender and size is less relevant than fit with your lifestyle and their temperament. 😍Sweet, Gentle Yogi😍

Yogi is looking for his home and a volunteer did a video of him. She says:

"Yogi is a lovely boy - he was easy-going, affectionate, walked beautifully - at one point I was filming and walking him and my boy at the same time - no problem at all. He was also lovely with my boy which you'll see in the video. Gorgeous. Boys often take longer to home, so do keep an open mind as boys like Yogi are a breeze to walk and often very affectionate. I've had a boy and a girl and they've both been lovely and no difference walking them or fitting them in my home." Yogi has a profile: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/yogi_born-feb-2020/ and you can see the many hounds needing homes at this page: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds-gallery/

😍Friendly, Inquisitive Lizzo😍

2 year old Lizzo is looking for her forever home. A volunteer has done a video of her and says:

"Lizzo is a young girl and seems happy, walks nicely, loves a fuss and enjoyed her treats too - she even went on a little treat hunt! Greyhounds make wonderful pets and thousands need homes each year, so do consider homing one. Despite living their lives in kennels, they adapt well to a home and enjoy it. They just need our understanding to introduce them to everything gradually as it's new to them. Lizzo seems happy to go on that journey!" Here is Lizzo's profile: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/lizzo-born-oct-2022/

😍Happy, Confident Chris😍

Chris is looking for his forever home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Chris is a gorgeous boy. Only 2 years old and so happy, nice walking, affectionate and good with his kennel mate. He didn't seem big to me - for anyone thinking they'd have a girl if size were important. The boys are lovely, often affectionate - and Chris is no exception." Here is his profile. Why not go and meet him and other greyhounds at the kennels https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/chris-born-oct-2022/

😍Friendly, Handsome Stevie😍

3 year old Stevie is looking for his home. A volunteer has done a video and says:

"Stevie seems such a happy, affectionate boy. He came up to say hello straight away and was happy meeting new people. He walked nicely and to top it, is a stunner. I have a loving, loyal boy and am aware most people ask for girls, so keep an open mind, as gender and size is not as relevant as temperament and how they walk etc. Greyhounds make great pets once relaxed in a loving home." Stevie's profile: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/stevie-born-august-2021/

19/04/2025

😍Sweet, Gentle Arianna😍

Arianna is looking for her loving home. A volunteer did a video and says:

"Arianna seems such a sweet, gentle girl. She was new in kennels and still finding her feet and seemed to love her fellow kennel hound Barry, a comfort - even leaned into him as you'll see in the video. She walked beautifully and seems an easy little girl." Here is her profile: https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/arianna-born-dec-2017/

18/04/2025

😍 Sweet, Handsome Hero 😍

Hero is looking for his forever home. A volunteer has done a nice video of him and says, "Hero seems a lovely boy, with a nice temperament and enjoyed a fuss from those he knew. He was new in kennels and still finding his paws out in the wider world. Greyhounds make wonderful pets and thousands need homes each year after racing, so do consider giving one a home." Hero's profile https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/hero-born-feb-2019/

😍 Cuddly, Friendly Duke 😍

Duke is looking for his forever home. A volunteer did a video of him and says:

"Duke was keen to get out of the kennels and on his walk (as would I be if in a kennel most the day) so he seemed energetic. Yet he was a complete gentle cuddle monster and walked beautifully. His walker said he didn't react to anything or other dogs and was very calm on his walk. I have a big boy and he is gentle and affectionate as the boys often are. So don't choose by gender or size - as it's more about lifestyle fit with you. Here's his profile - why not go, walk and meet him this Easter weekend. He is very friendly": https://www.hershamhounds.org.uk/homeless-hounds/duke-born-sept-2020/

😍 Soulful, Gentle Guinness 😍

Guinness is looking for his loving home. A volunteer who did his video says:

"Guinness seems a gentle, unassuming boy. He enjoyed a fuss, but like many greyhounds, isn't in your face asking for it. Many just don't assume or demand your affection, but love it when they get it. Worth bearing in mind when you meet them and not to overlook. They are a lovely, respectful breed like that. Generally gentle."
