Does anyone recognise this cat? She is elderly and frail but very friendly and loving.
She had been hiding in a garden around the Kings Acre area for a few days but has now been brought into our care.

🌟May is veterinary nurse awareness month, so we thought we would take the time to celebrate these three wonderful people! 🌟 🐶🐱🩺👩‍⚕️

We are a small team of one RVN and two SVN’s. RVN- jade and SVN’s Aimee and Amy. (Yes it gets very confusing at times!) 🙈

They work hard to ensure your pets receive a gold standard of care whilst staying with us in practice. A lot of the work that nurses do goes unseen, as this is quite often behind the scenes of the practice, but without nurses our vets would be unable to carry out a lot of the tasks that we see in everyday practice. 🐶🐱

Just a few roles of the RVN include;

🔵Monitoring anaesthetics

🔵Reception duties

🔵Inpatient care

🔵Nurse consults

🔵Placing catheters

🔵Taking blood

🔵Lab sampling

🔵Diagnostic imaging

🔵Cleaning

🔵Small surgeries such as lump removals and scale and polish procedures.

This is just a small list of the many jobs our small team of nurses carry out everyday. It is a very rewarding job, and all our nurses have a passion for all animals in their care.
Without our nurses we would be useless!

⭐️RVN position available⭐️ 🩺

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to an expansion of our team!
We are looking for another RVN to join our family here at Wye valley vets.

We are a small independent small animal veterinary practice based in the beautiful city of Hereford, just a stones throw away from the beautiful Herefordshire countryside with great links to the Malvern hills, a favourite spot for dog walkers! 🐶

The successful candidate will work alongside a team of 2 RVN’s, 2 SVN’s, 2 Vets and 2 receptionists. We are a bubbly, fun team who strive to deliver gold standard care to both our patients and clients alike.

The position would ideally be for a 40 hour working week ( 8 hour shifts, mon-fri) but the option for 4 longer 10 hour shifts with a day off in the week would also be available. This would include a weekend rota of 1 in 3 Saturdays with the Sunday on call.

Although we are ideally looking for a full time RVN, part time positions ( 3 full working days) would also be considered. Salary is to be discussed at interview.

We get many questions asking about dental hygiene in dogs and how to brush our pets teeth. 🪥 🦷 ✨ 🐶

Below is a great little video provided by veterinary voices uk on how to train your pets into allowing their teeth to be brushed. It is just as important to brush your pets teeth as it is our own to prevent the need for dental procedures such as extractions.

It is important to build up your pets confidence gradually over time and provide plenty of reward during the process to build a positive experience around tooth brushing.

Nobody likes a stinky dog breath 🐶 get brushing and enjoy!

⭐️MISSING⭐️

A male, black and white terrier type dog, UNMICROCHIPPED, has come into the practice as a stray. Found wandering around Westhope Village.

Please contact us with proof of ownership if you think he could be yours.

At this point, we would like to remind everybody that microchipping dogs is a legal requirement in any dog over the age of 8weeks and this is the second unmicrochipped dog we have had as a stray in the past 2 weeks!! It’s important for identification and reuniting owners with their pets in situations like this.

If you are unsure if your pet has been microchipped or would like to check the chip still scans, then please give us a call and we can arrange a microchip check with the nurse.

Lola, Skye, Dora and Darcie all came in for a general health check and a bit of loving from the vet 🥰

⭐️LOST DOG⭐️

A small, female, non-microchipped dog was handed in to us yesterday, found running around whitecross Tesco express area. Looks to be Malinois/shepherd breed. Please let us know if you are missing one. Proof of ownership will be required.

She has now been reunited with her owner after being missing for 3 weeks, thank you to everyone who shared!

We have had this older, female tortoiseshell cat handed in this afternoon, found wandering in the whitecross area. Please call the practice if you think she is yours. She is unfortunately not microchipped.
