She has left a huge legacy for us all. In a world of challenges she was constant, unwavering and showed great wisdom, love and compassion by example. It was her deep faith that anchored her and she pulled on that strength as she guided us through all uncertainties, alongside the celebrations and joys of our nation. Queen Elizabeth was truly interested in all people and made each meeting memorable and special ...add to this her great sense of humour and that amazing twinkle in her eye... well she herself was very special indeed! What I loved about this amazing woman was that she celebrated and promoted the richness of diversity of people all over the world and created and promoted beautiful unity and greater understanding. So as per the prophetic words of Paddington... "Thank you Ma'am for everything". My thoughts and prayers are with King Charles and his family. "God Save the King" S x

Now under normal circumstances I would never photograph someone eating.....BUT when a girl gets stuck into a cream cake with such gusto then the shot has to be had....shame not to don't you think? Lucy you are a gift to the camera and.... there is something quite satisfying to see this level of enthusiasm over a generously whipped cream cake with chocolate. This of course was one of Georgia's parties...the weather was glorious....the food abundant (home baking by Katie and Georgia) and it was a memorable day. Let us long for the return of such merry making and celebration. S ;)

Well I'm boxing clever with food at the moment. At the back of the woodshed we have a store (full of clutter which will be another job on the list). But a gem of a find with one remaining squash from Charlotte & Ed's Allotment in Lichfield. Anyway I've cut off the odd bit of maturity and tonight we are having one of River Cottage's recipes. (Thank you Hugh). Mark is utterly delighted (NOT!!). In fact he's having disturbed sleeping patterns crying out for pork pies, sausage baps and a nice bit of fruit cake)....anyway I digress. You may like to note a jar of fermented beetroot above. I'm in my element....a captured audience and a passion for whole healthy food. Move over Mary Berry I'm with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall at the moment!!

Aren't people lovely!! A pile of Telegraph newspapers from Penny & John Platts and a little bag of goodies from Colin & Gloria....all left in the porch. The newspapers are great for a spot of reading and recipe collecting, they then get put to another use which I will tell you about another time. Colin and Gloria's bag contained plants and some rather nice cakes which we are going to have right now with a cup of tea. ;)
