We want to provide some clarification over yesterday’s post.

Having served our contractual notice period, our cremation and clinical waste services at our Hereford practice were terminated with AFS in April of this year.

This had nothing to do with the allegations that came to light yesterday which took us by total surprise and has horrified our team. Especially as most of us have sent our own pets to AFS over the years, some of which were in the last 6 months of our contract. We are very understanding to the upset and distress this is causing a lot of our clients as well as the general public.

Like everyone else we are trying to understand the full facts. There is an ongoing investigation, and we, like everyone else need to wait and see what that finds. When further information comes to light, we will of course keep our clients informed.

We were devastated to have seen the news about Animal Funeral Services this morning.

We want to reassure our clients that we no longer use Animal Funeral Services and haven’t done for several months. We served notice to terminate our contract at the end of 2025 due to communication difficulties.

We were unaware of the state of her premises or for how long they have been in this condition. Over the years clients using her services have visited her premises and never had any cause for concern. We understand that all pet cremation services are inspected annually by APHA. This is now a police matter, and we await the results of that investigation.

In our Hereford branch we use Summerleaze, a branch of Pet Cremation Service based in Newport. We have used this company for our Ledbury branch since we acquired the practice in 2016.

Wow what a wonderful patient !
Daz presented yesterday with a swollen eye
Our vet Victoria was immediately suspicious that the swelling was excessive in the lids compared to the rest of the eye
Once she’d flooded the eye with local anaesthetic she went on a grass seed hunt !!
Here’s the video of finding the SECOND ONE !
Jess and Tracey helped with patient and video management !!
