We've been up walking dogs at 6:50am on the hottest days. We're still sadly seeing people waking their dogs in utterly unacceptable heat at absurd times of the day. Yesterday I saw a dog literally tip toeing on the pavement down by B&Q!

We appreciate some dog owners are well meaning but if you can't walk barefoot on a surface , they shouldn't be either. Try 30 seconds on any surface, if you can't do it, don't put them on it either - it's cruel.

If you can't get out at that time, restrict the dog to 5 mins in the garden.

Right now, it's fans on at their level, cold mats on the floor, paddling pools in the garden and minimal exercise. It is what it is.

Their adrenaline is so high, they're so excited, they won't tell you no to a walk. They'll just suffer the consequences.

They might be annoyed at you, you might feel guilty but keeping them safe is the only priority x
