Dogs stress signals often get missed or misunderstood, with some owners not realising their dog is unhappy until they snap, growl or bite.

The canine ladder of communication is a helpful guide, that shows a range of signals a dog can express using their body to communicate. As a dog getsmore upset, their body language may change according to the steps on the ladder.

It is important to note that all dogs are different so not every dog will show every behaviour of the ladder and may not follow the specific order.

Familiarise yourself with the signals shown so that you can recognise then with your own dog(s). 🐕
