🐾 Continuing to learn at Gentle Paws 🐾

We’re really pleased to share another qualification with you! 🎓🐶

Lauren has recently achieved the iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid, completed through The Dog First Aid Co. Ltd.

At Gentle Paws, we believe caring for the dogs who come through our doors goes far beyond giving them a lovely groom. Every dog is placed in our care, and their health, welfare and safety will always be a priority.

That’s why we’re continually looking to build our knowledge and skills. We hope we’ll never need to use canine first aid in an emergency, but having the right training means we’re better prepared to recognise when something isn’t right and respond appropriately.

It’s another qualification to add to the Gentle Paws wall but more importantly, more knowledge behind the care we provide every day. 🐾❤️

Puppy baths 🐶

The best time to start grooming is before your puppy actually needs a haircut.

Many owners wait until their puppy’s coat becomes long or tangled before booking their first appointment. By then, everything is new and can feel overwhelming.

Introducing puppies to grooming from around 12 weeks of age (once they’re appropriately vaccinated and your vet is happy for them to mix with other dogs) helps them build positive experiences with:

🐾 Being handled
🛁 Bathing
💨 The dryer
✂️ Scissors and clippers
🪮 Brushing
💅 Nail trimming

At Gentle Paws, puppy sessions are designed to be calm, positive and rewarding. The aim isn’t to achieve a perfect haircut, it’s to help your puppy gain confidence and learn that grooming is nothing to be worried about.

A puppy that enjoys grooming is much more likely to become an adult dog that enjoys grooming too 🐾

☀️ Summer Grooming ☀️

Summer doesn’t always mean shorter.

For many breeds, removing excess undercoat is far more beneficial than clipping the coat short. A healthy coat helps regulate body temperature and protects the skin from the sun.

Our aim is always to recommend the best groom for your dog’s coat type, not necessarily the shortest one.
