Due to a short term training livery returning home at the end of this month we have 1 space coming available on our yard in Cross In Hand, Heathfield.

Long or short term packages available. Training livery includes full care, riding and lessons. Professional yard with first class care for your horse. Friendly, supportive people no matter what your level or objectives are. Large, airy boxes, brand new 60x20 outdoor arena, individual or paired turnout, all weather turn out pen, lunge arena, hot wash, quiet hacking and a nice yard atmosphere.

Beautiful Lider, owned by Flora Franklin, sourced and trained by us.

🇵🇹 PARABENS to the Champion Lusitano of 2023 in the daytime showing classes, Lider Da Fareja (Amadiz da Broa x Uva) ridden by Jose Manuel Cebola. Presented by Grania Phillips, the Deputy Lieutenant of Devon representing the Royal household, with APSL Cavalo Lusitano judge Rui Rosado. Lider and Jose also won the best Lusitano presentation of the day, and best turned out Lusitano of the day. They were presented with the Marcia Pendlebiury perpetual trophy. Obrigada Jose for being a fabulous competitor in the daytime classes, and presenting Lider in the Saturday night Espetáculo in front of a full house of 2,200 people who appreciated the quality of this Lusitano, an excellent example of the National horse of Portugal. THEY ARE THE CHAMPIONS! The worthy winners from the Saturday daytime showing classes, who were presented their awards by Deputy Lieutenant of Devon - Grania Phillips representing the Royal Household 🇬🇧 were as follows;

🇵🇹 CHAMPION LUSITANO and the winner of the Marcia Pendlebury Perpetual Trophy - Lider de Fareja ridden by Jose Manuel Cebola

🇪🇸 CHAMPION PRE and the winner of the Francisco Parody-Lopez perpetual Trophy - Silencioso Migalinda II ridden by Janine Pendlebury-Lee

🇵🇹 RESERVE CHAMPION LUSITANO - Pandora owned by Rosemary Brierely and presented by Paul Bettens

🇪🇸 RESERVE CHAMPION PRE - Elba ridden by Alison Zuend

🇵🇹🇪🇸The best turned out, and best Lusitano presentation both went to Lider de Fareja and Jose Manuel Cebola. The best turned out PRE went to IS Olympico and Ellie Hussey, the best PRE presentation to Lago Rapunzel and Paul Bettens. The winner of the Veteran Championship was Lusitano Bolero with Brian Greenaway.

The Champions are invited to present to the massive sold out Saturday crowd of 2,200 before performances with the headline stars, this is of course optional for daytime winners, being a young mare, Pandora was not presented. The Champions were led in by our flag bearer Michael Smith and Lusitano Eclipse Da Boa. Entries were low this year, but the quality of the horses was absolutely excellent across both breeds and gave us the opportunity to talk about the horses and keep the pace beautifully relaxed for everyone in the electric atmosphere. Warm up manager and team leader Katy Tilly Modern doing an amazing job as always, brand new arena managers Lynne Macleod and Marcia Clarke took it all in their stride - huge thanks ladies for your hard work. The stable teams Jac and Marie Bunney and Lynne Macleod looked after everyone with great care outside.

We hope to see more competitors next year at this exceptionally prestigious event showcasing the beautiful horses of Spain and Portugal in the sporting side of the Festival. It's an experience like no other in a thrilling five days next year with more taking place on set up days to get you in the Iberian mood - 28th August - 2nd September at Westpoint. For professionals, the prestige is high, for amateurs, crowds are limited in the day and the teams will look after you. It will be a premium wax surface again. Any questions about competing at the Festival, please let us know, everyone is welcome - take the week off and come and join us!

JOB VACANCY
Due to one of our girls starting Uni in September QRP Dressage Lusitanos are looking for a part time freelance groom to take on some hours. Wednesdays 7am-1pm, one weekend morning and one weekend afternoon (flexible with our other weekend girl).
Extra afternoons and holiday cover occasionally available too. The right person must be 100% reliable, able to work alone once they are use to the job and work thoroughly and to a high standard.

WORKING EQUITATION LESSONS.

We will have a full course of obstacles out for the week 21st - 26th August. Afternoon lessons with British team and development squad trainer and Grand prix rider Paulo Santos available from 2pm every day. Suitable for all levels, children and adults, new and old to Working Equitation. £70 individual or £50 each for two sharing.

Building a temporary arena is challenging, so we are very glad this year to be working with Equestrian Surfaces and will be installing a super quality wax surface which will be available to buy on completion of the Festival. This will also be the case in 2024 and we welcome serious enquiries for this year and next for this rare money saving opportunity. This high end finish will ensure ultimate safety and comfort for horses and riders and enable quick and easy maintenance throughout the Festival. Equestrian Surfaces provide an exceptional service and their major support means so much to our team, the daytime competitors and the world class performers. Last year we brought in 450 tonnes of sand to build the arena which meant our ground crew had to water into the early mornings for days on end and considerable rolling and harrowing had to be carried out. On the Friday we had to carry out additional harrowing for safety which did cause some inevitable, but essential delays in the show - safety of horses and riders comes before all else. On Saturday the surface was much better, and the minimal harrowing required during the show was set to sound and lights and the Mexican waves were in full force - great fun!! Seen here our Groundworks manager Luis Parody-Candea and Chris Evans who worked so hard last year to get the arena right with nearly the entire team at some point getting stuck in watering and working the surface. They are already working dilligently with Thomas at Equestrian Surfaces to create an arena that will be a joy to ride. Thank you Thomas and team for all of your help.
