In past years this donation has acceded 1000 tins per year

On this day, we shine a light on the millions of adoptable pets around the world who are still waiting in shelters and kennels for their chance at a loving home. 💛

Here at Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust, we know just how special those waiting pets are – every greyhound in our care has so much love to give, they just need someone to give them that second chance 🏡.

Let’s remember those still waiting, celebrate the ones who’ve found their forever families, and keep working towards a world where every pet knows the joy of home. 💕

Sighthounds and their owners will be walking together across the globe on the very same day – let’s see how many participants we can gather here in Hampden Park 💜 Let’s see if together we can smash last years numbers!

This is Bert (Beechwood Street) he is 9 years old. Bert has been with us a number of years as we haven’t managed to find the perfect home for him. Bert is a loving boy once he knows you, he gives paw and loves a belly rub. Bert requires a quieter home with no children or visiting children and a greyhound experienced owner as he has some guarding behaviours. He is good with his female kennel mates. He is a clean boy in the kennel and will ask to go out. This is Nelson (Leary Diamond) he is 10 years old. Nelson has been with us a number of years as we haven’t managed to find the perfect home for him. He needs to be the only dog in the home with a greyhound experienced owner and no children or visiting children. He is a loveable boy and loves his dentastixs. He is clean in his kennels but not so keen on strangers so will benefit from prospective owners visiting a few times to see him. He will also need minimal visitors to the household. 💛🐾 It’s Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week 🐾💛

Not every dog gets chosen straight away. Some of our greyhounds wait a little longer for their forever homes – maybe they’re older, a bit shy, need to be the only pet, or just need an owner with a bit of experience.

But here’s the secret… once you get to know them, those “less adoptable” hounds turn out to be the most loyal, loving companions you could ever wish for 🐶✨.

This week is all about celebrating those overlooked pets and reminding everyone that every dog deserves a chance at happiness 💕. Could you be the one to give them the home they’ve been waiting for? 🏡
