People dressed in costumes and unexpected knocks at the door can be confusing and scary for many dogs. Here are our Halloween top tips:
🎃 Be careful when opening the door so your dog doesn’t accidentally escape
👻 If your dog is really worried, consider a sign saying ‘nervous dog, please do not knock’. You could still leave treats out for children to help themselves
🍬 Keep human sweets and chocolate safely out of your dog’s reach
🧛 Keep dressing up for humans only. Costumes can feel restrictive and prevent your pet from communicating their discomfort

On Sunday 26th October, the clocks go back one hour as British Summer Time ends. While this gives us an extra hour in bed, it can disrupt our pets’ routines, especially feeding and walking schedules.
Animals thrive on consistency, so sudden changes can cause confusion or anxiety. To help ease the transition, consider gradually adjusting your pet’s routine over a few days leading up to the change. A little preparation can make a big difference in keeping your furry friends happy and settled.
Have you noticed your pet reacting to the time change before?
Share your stories or tips below - we’d love to hear them! 🐶🐱🕒

Pet insurance or a preventative healthcare plan?
Pet insurance can cover unexpected accidents or illnesses which may come your pets way.
Preventative healthcare schemes focus on keeping your pet healthy and protected on an everyday basis. For example, covering their vaccinations, parasite control and health checks.

Maybe a stray turns up and never leaves. Maybe a friend asks you to “temporarily” look after theirs. Or maybe a kitten appears just when you weren’t looking.
It’s all part of what the internet calls the cat distribution system - a tongue-in-cheek way of describing how cats seem to end up exactly where they’re meant to be.

October is Black Cat Awareness Month - a time to celebrate these sleek, mysterious, and often misunderstood felines. Despite their charm and beauty, black cats are sadly less likely to be adopted due to outdated myths and superstitions.
This month is all about changing perceptions and showing the world just how wonderful black cats truly are.
