RIP Molly

Molly crossed Rainbow Bridge Monday last week and devastated is an understatement.
Molly was one of my first Boarding and Day Care clients and I looked after her for 11 years.
She was an absolute sweetheart from day one and didn't have a bad bone in her body. Naughty bones made up for it 10-fold!
She frequently took off on our walks, only to return 20+ minutes later.
One Sunday there was a cricket match on at the Community Centre park. They had hired one of the small rooms for refreshments after the game. As Mark and I walked past we looked in the room only to find Molly making her way along the tables helping herself. We didn't know where to look! 😂
Her owner Nick said she once stole the Sunday Roast off the dining table and ran down the road with it in her mouth. She was also once found in the freezer section in Tescos!
MollyB, we shall think of you with such fond memories. It was a pleasure having you as part of the Happy Tailz family.
I hope you legs have regained their strength and you are running with a stolen sandwich in your mouth.
Till we meet again at Rainbow Bridge ....

RIP Buddy.
You came to stay with your brother after Happy Tailz had just started all those years ago. You were both regulars and that's where my love for Fox Red Labradors started. You were such a gentle soul and an absolute delight to look after. Take care my friend ❤️

We started looking after you when you were just a pup and we all adored you. Another beautiful soul taken too soon.

I am devastated to inform you that Toby crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
He joined the Happy Tailz gang when he was a tiny puppy and I saw him pretty much every month of his life.
Happy Tailz HQ will NEVER be the same again as he had so many friends, human and canine.
Last week he was with us playing in the park and now he's gone.
Toby was a huge personality, and then some, in a small body. He loved his time here and everybody he met loved him. He had a huge fanclub!
This is the only part of my job I hate. These dogs come into your life and they love you unconditionally they they break your heart into a million pieces.
Rest easy my Toby-Tobes. You were like family and I loved you so much. You had a special place in my heart and now my heart is breaking.
I miss you terribly and I will never forget you.

The harness in the photo should be avoided like the plague. Vets are seeing no end of shoulder issues in dogs because of this type of harness.

In a dog's forward movement, a harness with a ribbon crossing its chest from side to side hinders it in the same way humans would be bothered hiking with a rubber band holding their arms. Physiological movement of the front limb is inhibited. The same way rubber would inhibit the pendulum movement of our ARMS.

Thanks to the Study of Dog Movement, we now know that in the dog, the center of rotation of the front limb is at the top of the scapula, but in the human the center of rotation in the arm it's in the HUMOR.

The study demonstrates, among other things, the importance of scapula movement for dog locomotion. The importance of keeping the dog's shoulder free movement in mind is now understandable when choosing a chest harness.

That means there SHOULD be NO ribbons in the scapula area, and not going through the chest side to side either.

From the point of view of biomechanics and physiotherapy, it is recommended not to choose
walking harnesses that have a tape across the chest laterally, or that have tapes touching or pressing the scapula.

Always prefer harness models with ERGONOMIC design, to allow maximum freedom of movement of your dog, improve his well-being and safety during his walk.
