We know how much your cat means to you. They're not just a pet – they're part of the family, and keeping them happy and healthy is everything.

That's exactly why we'd always encourage cat owners to think about insurance early. Because if something unexpected ever happens – an accident, a sudden illness, an injury that needs surgery – the last thing you want is to be worrying about the bill at the same time as worrying about them.

We've put together a simple, honest guide to cat insurance for anyone who's not sure where to start. It covers what it actually is, how it works alongside a pet health plan, and why getting it while your cat is young and healthy makes all the difference.

Have a read when you get a moment – we think it's one of the most useful things you can do for your cat. 🐱

☀️❗️HEAT STROKE ❗️☀️
With record temperatures the last few days we have seen many dogs with symptoms of heat stroke.

We can’t advise you enough to keep your pets safe in these temperatures.

🐕‍🦺 Walk dogs first thing in the morning or last thing at night.
🐈 Provide cool and shaded areas
🚗 Try to avoid taking your pets in vehicles, and certainly don’t leave them in your vehicles.
💧Make sure your pet has constant access to water

Symptoms of head stroke may include:
- vomitting and / or diarrhoea
- excessive panting and drooling
- seizures and collapse
- Lethargy

☎️ Seek veterinary advice immediately if you’re at all worried.

Does your cat ever walk away mid-stroke, or suddenly swipe when they seemed perfectly happy a moment ago? You're not doing anything wrong – cats just communicate differently, and once you understand the signals, interactions become a lot more enjoyable for both of you.

We've put together a guide to cat-friendly interaction, covering where cats like to be stroked, how to read their body language and a simple three-step method to make every interaction a positive one.

There's even an interactive touch zone guide so you can see exactly which areas to go for – and which to avoid.

Worth a read if you share your home with a cat ➡️

Cryptosporidiosis is one of the most common causes of calf scour – and one of the most frustrating to manage on farm. If you're finding it difficult to know where to start with vaccination, or struggling to get buy-in from clients, this webinar is worth your time.

On May 12 at 8pm, Alex Cooper, director and farm animal vet at Fenton Vets, is joining a panel of speakers to share practical, on-farm experience of making Bovilis Cryptium® vaccination work in dairy herds – covering the five-point control plan, extended colostrum feeding and wider scour management strategies.

Cats are one of nature's fussiest eaters – and for good reason. As obligate carnivores, they have some very specific nutritional needs that set them apart from most other animals.

We've put together a guide to feeding your cat or kitten, covering everything from what to look for on a food label to how often to feed them and how to make mealtimes as stress-free as possible.

Worth a read if you want to make sure your cat is getting everything they need.
