Not the update I thought I would be bringing you all but one I am extremely pleased about! It is my pleasure to confirm both Cassius and Jude have been reserved to go to their forever homes.

It is rare that we have such an easy and pleasurable time placing hamsters with their new forever families but it has been a dream for these guys.

Jude will be leaving us tonight to join a wonderful mama who's already experienced in caring for dwarf hamsters. Cassius is still a little too young to go to a new home and will stay a couple more weeks giving his new family time to make his new home perfect.

We will miss them both when they are gone but cannot wait to see them thriving with their new families šŸ’›

Today we took in a special little fella. Please welcome Cassius to the rescue.

Cassius was part of a big hoarding case that has been handled by several rescues throughout the country over the last month. He was a tiny little pinky when he, along with his mum and litter mates were moved to the safety of a rescue. Now at 6 weeks old it was time for Cassius to have his own enclosure away from his brothers and we were happy to offer him up a space.

Cassius isn’t going to be available to adopt until he’s at least 8 weeks old although he may stay a little longer depending on his progress.

Keep following along to hear more about Cassius and the loving forever home he’s looking for over the next few weeks.

Sometimes, life takes unexpected turns and for Jude, a hybrid dwarf hamster, that meant a change in circumstances that led him to be surrendered to a rescue. Originally thought to be a girl, Jude’s gender reveal came as a surprise...he’s actually a boy!

At around 10-11 months old, Jude was tiny when he arrived, weighing in at only 38g. We’re already working on helping him gain a little weight with a carefully balanced diet.

Jude is currently in his quarantine period, so he isn’t quite ready for adoption just yet. But stay tuned for updates on his progress and personality as he continues to settle in. In time, we’ll share more about the special home he’s looking for, and when he’s ready, we’ll be excited to find him the perfect match!

Hi Everyone! We have been somewhat absent from our page since Wilfred went to his forever home at the end of December. Since then we have been taking the opportunity to spend lots of time with our resident hamsters Flóki & Albus and thought we would take a moment to introduce you to them.

Flóki is a male Roborovski and arrived at the rescue back in October with his brother Wilfred. Flóki is an aloof little guy and whilst he is by no means a ghost hamster he has let us know he very much prefers to live life without human companionship. We don't mind though as he is buckets of fun to watch and we love seeing him enjoy his fabulous double eco enclosure and all the enrichment it has to offer.

Albus is the first hamster we have adopted from another rescue Indias Hamster Rescue UK. When they posted him looking for a new home in December I jumped at the chance to adopt him. Hybrid dwarf hamsters have always had a very special place in my heart and whilst Albi had giant shoes to fill with so many special dwarfs coming before him he's filled the role perfectly & we couldn't love him more.

** Magnus has found his forever home **

Magnus has been at the rescue for just under 2 months now patiently waiting for a family to call his own. Magnus is looking for a special kind of home because he needs his new family to understand that he doesn't enjoy being held by human hands, something which is proving a sticking point whilst trying to match him.

Magnus is such a relaxed and happy boy in his enclosure. His favourite pass time is running on his wheel and whilst he will accept some free roam time (via the hands free taxi) he's just as happy in his enclosure.

Magnus loves to interact with the adult humans in the house and when he knows we are nearby he runs to the spots he knows we can pet him or where he has easy access to take a snack from us, which he's so incredibly gentle at.

Magnus is looking for an adult home where he can be showered with love...at arms length.

All our rescues are rehomed with a settling in pack which contains 2 weeks of getzoo hamster food, some hand feeding treats, some forage and a whimzee along with any disposable items like sprays and chews they have in their enclosure. He will need an enclosure of at least 100x50cm floorspace, a 28cm+ wheel and lots of enrichment for him to enjoy. Full adoption criteria can be found on our website.

** Rollo, now Wilfred, has found his forever home **

Rollo is the most precious 6-7 month male Roborovski. He arrived at the rescue with his brother who he was cohoused with. As we see with most cohoused hamsters he needed some time to decompress initially but once he realised he was in a safe place he began to explore. Within a week Rollo was already taking food from my hand.

Like with most roborovski's Rollo is extremely fast so we are looking for an adult home for him who can be confident in their interactions.

Rollo will need a 100x50cm enclosure, 20cm+ wheel and lots of enrichment to keep him entertained. Please check out our adoption essentials on our website for our full adoption requirements.

Please welcome sweet Magnus who was surrendered to the rescue last Monday. As you can see from his photos he’s the most stunning little man. He is however painfully shy and any kind of handling is a big no no for now.

Magnus loves running on his wheel and can run almost non stop from 8pm to 5am with just a few cat naps to keep him going. He ran just under 14 miles last night alone šŸƒšŸ’Ø

He’s a little guy under all that fur weighing in at around 116g which for an adult Syrian is small but hopefully with a nice selection of sprays, treats and a healthy food mix we can help him gain some weight although we suspect it's likely he's just running off everything he eats!

Magnus will stay with us for another week of observation before he starts the search for his forever family.

Our final piece of exciting news is that we are now finally up and running with the Treasured Paws HR website.

It can be tough for new perspective owners to get to grips with all the things they may need to understand and purchase before they can adopt their new hamster so the website has been created with this in mind and has pictures and links to all the relevant safe supplies you may need.

Some of the thing you can expect to find on the website:

āļøAn adoption essentials page which breaks down the bare essentials needed prior to adoption day.

āļøPages with links to safe cages, wheels, substrates, enrichment and foods.

āļøEnclosure inspiration sharing lots of fabulous cages from likeminded hamster lovers.

āļøDetails on our adoption application process and adoption form.

āļøHamsters we currently have that are looking for their forever home.

We hope the new site will help to streamline the adoption process and offer inspiration to anyone looking to explore species appropriate hamster care.

I'm very happy to introduce to you all this sweet little lady, Daphne.

Daphne is a female hybrid dwarf, approximately 6-8 months old and was surrendered to us after her owners were gifted her and decided they couldn't care for a hamster. She has settled in so well and has the sweetest nature.

Daphne has made herself at home creating burrows, running on her wheel and digging in all her new fun substrates. She's quickly learnt the sound of our voices and pops out regularly to say hi when she hears us. Daphne can be easily handled, in fact she takes a run up and jumps on our hands for a bit of affection...and because she knows we are the keepers of the treats.

Daphne is currently in her health quarantine period but will soon be on the hunt for a family to call her own.

It is with great pleasure I can finally announce we are back open as a rescue.

Sadly I had to make the decision earlier in the year to close our doors to new intakes while we cared for some elderly and poorly sanctuary hamsters. Our sweet Odin passed away in May, and Bert followed him over the rainbow bridge in July. They both lived amazingly long and full lives and whilst we are always sad to lose one of our babies we feel so much gratitude that we got to spend their lives loving them.

We still have two residents here with us who sadly also aren't doing so well. Jinx celebrated his 1 year gotcha day with us last month and is just VERY old at this point. We are doing what we can to support him. Despite only being around 19 months old Matilda's health condition is on a fairly rapid decline and we will continue to support her with the medications prescribed by our vet.

So whilst we are back open this will still be on a limited basis so we can ensure the time and resource is there to help Jinx and Tilly when needed.

With that said we have a very cute new recruit to introduce to you all who I will share in her own post.

Thank you for all your ongoing support and your patience the last 6 months while we took the time to care for the hamsters that needed us most. We can't wait to continue sharing the Treasured Paws story with you all.

Hi Everyone, today we have a slightly different adoption from the rescue. This sweet little man was previously rehomed by us but sadly due to no fault of his own has found himself looking for a new home again. Because this little man has had so much upheaval in his life moving around we really want to make sure that whoever adopts him is prepared to care for him for the rest of his days.

The circumstances being what they are, this little mans current owner has agreed to rehome him with his current enclosure and a lot of his supplies to avoid disruption. If he is adopted with his enclosure, we will be waiving any adoption fee for him however there will be a cost associated with his enclosure and supplies of Ā£70 which is an absolute steal for what’s included. We would love for him to be adopted with his enclosure to avoid stress to him however if you have a suitable enclosure of 120x60cm already then this would be considered.

A little about this gorgeous boy…He first arrived at the rescue in March 2023 as part of a big group surrender at 9 weeks old – making him around 16 months old. He’s always been on the shy side and prefers living life on his own terms without too much human interaction. That said, his current owner is able to perform health checks and clip his nails when necessary. He will happily go about his day digging in his sand and soil and making nests in lots of different areas of his enclosure – and of course running at top speed on his wheel. If you are looking for a lower maintenance hamster that you can create gorgeous set ups for without having to commit to daily free roams, this guy could be the hamster for you.

A little about his enclosure…this is a DIY wooden enclosure measuring 120x60x60cm with a hinged lid. The enclosure is in very good condition with the exception of a small area a previous occupant chewed in the back corner. The current owner has been covering this with a tile and this has prevented any further damage. There will be a custom-made large sand bath with the enclosure as well as a couple of DIY platforms that fit the cage well. In addition his enclosure will come with a silent wheel, MCH, 6 other hides, a cork log, 2 small branches and a small dig box. You would need some enrichment of your own like tunnels, branches, dig boxes as well as substrates and sprays however a large portion of the set up would be ready to go – It really is a great value set up.

We would love to find this guy a stable forever home where he can happily live out his days. If you think you could be the person to offer him this we would love to hear from you.

He's currently located in Wokingham – Berkshire.

Hi Everyone, a little update for you all. As of 01/02/24 we will be closing temporarily for new intakes and adoptions while we focus some time, energy and finances on the senior permanent residents in our care.

With Jinx and Odin turning two this week and Bert not far behind we have decided we need to make sure we manage our resources to be able to give them whatever they need in the coming months. As a small, self funded rescue we have to think carefully about the impact new intakes have on our vet fund and our ability to take time off from our day jobs for any vet visits. Our instagram will remain active with updates on the boys as we see them through old age and we will be sure to update you all once we reopen the rescue again in the near future.

If you have adopted a hamster from us and need assistance don't hesitate to reach out as we will always respond in these instances.

See you all soon!

This sweet little lady is Ettie, she arrived at the rescue back in August after being surrendered as part of an accidental litter. Her two sisters have found their forever homes but Ettie is still on the hunt for the perfect family to call her own.

Ettie is a girl on the go, she has a lot of energy and doesn't really stick to a particular routine at the moment. She often pops her head out her burrow when she can hear you in the room to see if you have some yummy snacks for her, and she's turned into a massive foodie!

Ettie is going to need a family who can dedicate quite a bit of time to her as she will benefit from daily free roam time. Ettie has a lot of energy and will require boredom breakers and puzzles in her enclosure to help keep her entertained.

Ettie will need an enclosure at least 100x50cm however larger would really benefit her. She loves to burrow so whilst we would accept a bar enclosure it will need to be adjusted with cardboard or grass mats around the sides to accommodate 10-12" of bedding for her to make her burrows. She will need a 28cm+ wheel and a large sand area as she loves to dig.

Ettie is exceptionally gentle and very curious, she will take treats from your hands and accept strokes. She does climb out the enclosure onto an arm however she's not so sure of climbing onto bare skin so long sleeves work best.

If you think you could be the home Ettie has been waiting for we would love to hear from you and we can go through the adoption process. we are based in Hook RG27 and can facilitate delivery within a reasonable distance.

Ettie will be rehomed with a settling in pack which contains 2 weeks of changeover food, a chew, hand feeding treats and some forage.

Female Syrian - approx 6 months

Our little darling Agatha has been patiently waiting for her forever home since she was surrendered to the rescue in August at around 11 weeks old - sadly we are yet to receive any suitable interest in her.

Agatha has taken a while to trust her foster mama, we suspect due to her rough start in life. She has however come a really long way and will now accept snacks from fingers and a let you give her a few strokes as payment.

We would love to find Agatha a suitable home where she can finally settle for the long haul. Agatha will need a cage at least 100x50cm, she is currently living in a mamble 100 and doing really well in there. She likes boredom breakers and will need plenty of enrichment and things to keep her stimulated.

If you think you could be the home Agatha is looking for please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process. Adoption criteria and fee will apply.
