The equestrian community is a tight knit bunch. For the most part, it is a supportive and friendly place to enjoy a lifestyle that hearts, souls and bank accounts are poured in to.

However, it only takes one comment, one little whisper to have an enormous impact on someone's life and hobby.

Bullying is something we don't like to discuss in the equine community, many of us stand back and hold our hands up saying ''I would never...'', but have you ever passed a flippant comment about somebody's riding? Their horse? Their tack? Their trainer?

Many of us will have passed the odd comment here or there with no harm or offence intended, however, what if that person were to hear? How would you feel if it was you?

As a community, we spend time focussing on the victims of bullying and less so on where the bullying comes from and why it happens. The truth is those little comments are usually where it begins. We need to build from the ground up and focus on supporting one another.

Imagine the community we could have if, instead of focussing on what is wrong, we focussed on what is RIGHT. Imagine the community we could have if everyone took a little more time to spread positivity.

So next time you're at an event, or just walking down the yard say something positive, give someone a reason to smile...and if you don't have anything nice to say, just don't say anything at all! Together, we can make this community a stronger, happier and healthier place to enjoy our four legged friends!
