Hi Tailwaggers. This is your last weekly challenge so let's see some lovely photos and videos of your dogs!

Junior / Puppy
Extend catch to a retrieve if possible, varying the items.

Intermediate
Train take and drop as in the pentagon challenge. Have a selection of surfaces...chair, washing up bowl, cone, mat, bed, box, egg box, then use a selection of items/toys and aim to get the dogs to select a named item and take it to a named surface. Hand signals allowed.

Advanced
As in intermediate but aim for voice only.
Also train a stacking exercise using ,e.g. hoops on cone, piles of plastic / paper plates, tupperware containers, frisbees, cartons, boxes...anything that comes in a variety of sizes.

Have fun!

Hi Tailwaggers.
For this weeks challenge we want to see your best and most fun trick. Something new that you have taught your dog, it doesn't have to be complicated but it would be great if it's something we haven't seen before.
Let's see you and your dog having fun! Post them here πŸ‘‡

Hi Tailwaggers, time for your weekly challenge. This week we're looking at retrieve, so pick your level and see how far you can get with it.

Junior/Puppy:
Teach a catch.
Be careful to use safe toys / items (don’t use a ball as this can be dangerous).
If dog doesn't find it easy, start with food and keep close.
Try to build up to 2 -3 meters away.

Intermediate:
Teach a present with a retrieve item.
In sit, teach the dog to take an item and keep it in it’s mouth.
Always give with one hand, take with 2.
Train the same thing with dog in heel position.
Vary the items and introduce proofing as in advanced.

Advanced:
Teach retrieve a static item with a finish.
Link to discerning items.
Proof the holding of the item...stroke head, walk round dog, jog, clap, etc
Use continental finish by verbal cue only (do not always include the finish)
Try to use some unusual retrieve items ... vary size / texture/ weight / shape.

Have fun and share your stories πŸ˜ƒ

This week’s challenge is based on Do As I Do.

Puppy/Junior:
Do As I Do sit, down, go to bed, go to come, or anything else they can do.

Intermediate:
Do As I Do twist and twirl
Discern 1 of 2 articles ( by using identical articles)
Go round cone/chair
Walk backwards

Advanced:
Discern 3 out of 6 articles
2-stage Do As I Do (linking previous ones)

If possible any team dogs especially post videos of as many Do As I Do exercises they can do.
Remember to have props there even if not used.

Hi Tailwaggers, here is this week's challenge. Hope you're all having fun!

Puppy / Junior:
Teach left and right paw. If you haveIalready done this, teach it in stand.
Teach 'take a bow'. be prepared to help the bum stay high for several weeks.

Intermediate:
Teach left and right paw with dog in a stand by your side. preferably with verbal cue.
teach 'take a bow' with dog in front and also by your side

Advanced:
If your dog knows Do As I Do, use this to teach left and right paw with dog in a stand, by your left side, with you lifting the equivalent leg as a cue.
Transfer 'take a bow' onto voice cue only, in front and by your side. Also transfer to Do As I Do.

Lets have your comments and see some photos and videos πŸ˜ƒ

Hi Guys, here's this week's challenge

Puppy/Junior:
Teach 'say your prayers'.
From sit , get the dog to beg using a treat very close to the nose, so they remain in sit, whilst letting them rest both front paws on your arm.
Once this becomes 'reliable', give the treat under your arm whilst paws still in place.

Intermediate:
Teach reverse using a mat placed just behind the dog in stand position.
Mark with 'gud' plus treat when either back foot steps on mat.
Increase distance gradually.

Advanced:
Refresh 'send to bed' but...add an emergency stop on the way to bed.
Also include one on the way back. then refresh the return to bed by dog walking backwards.
Then swap the bed for two other items, eg cone / mat / chair , then do the whole exercise using two different targets at the same time...ie get the dog on verbal cue to go to one of two destinations. If wanting a further challenge, make it three!

Have fun and let's hear about how you're getting on πŸ™‚

Hi Tailwaggers. Here's this week's challenge:

Puppy/Junior
Using the pole, teach nose touch and paw touch separately. Start with the one the dog finds easiest and get that reliable then introduce the other one.

Intermediate
On a safe surface, use the pole as a low jump and teach 'over' [maybe start near a wall so they don't 'cheat' and go to the far end making the jump sloppy.]
Teach a beg, letting the dog use the pole as a support for the front legs.
From 'front' teach 'go round' to a voice only cue...no head jerks! and finish in 'front'.

Advanced
Teach static weave using the pole as a third leg, swapping sides to effect a 4 obstacle weave...pole / leg / leg /pole again etc.
Finish with dog in middle position facing away from handler, turn and ask for reverse thru legs into heel position [retu].

Have fun and let us know how you're getting on πŸ˜€
