I said a fond but emotional farewell to this little guy last week. Gizmo was one of my first visitors in early 2018 and has been a loyal regular ever since. He’s a cheeky little chap with loads of character and I’ve always enjoyed his visits.

But now he and his family are leaving the area to start their next chapter. I’m going to miss this little Mogwai but wish him and his lovely family all the very best for their exciting new adventure ❤️❤️🐾

Having an enforced few weeks off in Feb/March has meant many of my furry visitors have undergone some impressive transformations since I came back to work!

I had the very sad news last week that another of my long term furry friends has crossed rainbow bridge. Beautiful Skye has been a regular visitor at the Shed since 2018. Always such a sweet, gentle soul - a true lady, I will miss her visits very much. Thinking of her family at this sad time 🤍🤍🐾

Yesterday marked 11 years of Dexter being in the world!

Hard to believe it’s been so long since this crazy woolly whirlwind crashed into our lives. What joy he’s brought us - my furry best friend, confidante and muse - the inspiration behind Dexter’s Grooming Shed.

So that means yesterday also marked 8 years of the Shed! Eight years worth of furry visitors regularly passing through my door and making my job so much fun.

Happy birthday to Dexter and his Shed, and a huge thank you to all my clients for making my little micro business such a success and a joy! 😊🐾🐾

And just so the little one doesn’t feel left out, belated happy birthday to Tommy the naughty border terrier who turned 7 on 2 Jan! 🐶

I had the very sad news yesterday that beautiful Ziggy has passed away.

Another longtime regular visitor, Ziggy Stardust was a superstar by name and superstar by nature. A sweet gentle boy, I will very much miss his visits. He was always so calm and ready with a little smile for me.

Keeping his family in my thoughts at this very sad time 🤍🤍🐾

Just had to share this little cutie! 🥰

The little “sister” of one of my long term regulars, yesterday was Figg’s second visit to the Shed. It was mild chaos when she and Frank arrived but calm soon settled with a couple of treats and a few ear rubs!

Figg is Glen of Imaal Terrier x Daschund and I don’t know about you, but I think that’s a winning combination ❤️❤️🐾

🚨HEATSTOKE KILLS DOGS🚨

It doesn’t always have to be ‘hot’ for an animal to develop heatstroke. Exercising excessively in warm weather, or being left in a warm or humid environment that is poorly ventilated can cause animals to quickly overheat. Avoidance is always best, but it’s important to know the signs of heatstroke so that you can treat your dog appropriately and know when to seek veterinary attention should they be unfortunate enough to suffer from it.

If you are concerned that your pet is overheating, you should act immediately, as heatstroke can rapidly become a life-threatening emergency; We recommend to “cool first, transport second” as the immediate first aid response for dogs with heatstroke. Owners should also seek veterinary advice as soon as possible.

A big thank you to my lovely helper, Annabel. She’s been doing work experience with me for the last four days and has been a big help with bathing, brushing, an admin backlog, socials, cleaning and tidying, and most importantly, doggy entertainment. It’s also been fun to have a human to talk to!!
