⚠️ Severe Matting in Dogs & Why Brushing Matters ⚠️
Severe matting is one of the most common and most uncomfortable coat issues we see—especially in Cockapoo breeds. Their soft, curly coats may look low-maintenance, but without regular brushing, they can quickly become tightly packed with knots right down to the skin.
Matting isn’t just cosmetic—it can cause real discomfort. It pulls on the skin, traps moisture and dirt, restricts airflow, and can even lead to skin irritation or infection. In severe cases, the only humane solution is often a short clip-off to safely remove the mats.
Cockapoos and other curly-coated breeds need brushing several times a week (not just the occasional quick go-over). A slicker brush and comb used properly can make all the difference in keeping the coat healthy, fluffy, and mat-free between grooming appointments.
Regular professional grooming combined with a consistent at-home brushing routine is the key to preventing matting and keeping your dog comfortable, happy, and looking their best. 🐾✨
