A desperate plea from Elpida Shelter of Hope
URGENT REQUEST TO ADOPTERS OF ELPIDA DOGS
Please send photos of your adopted dog in a loving home and words of support. We have a fight on our hands to keep our shelter 😢
For the second time my shelter is being attacked by an "animal welfare federation in Greece" and the Mayor of the city demands that I evacuate the shelter!! A team from the regional veterinary service will come on Tuesday for an inspection. They are obliged to draw up a report in conjunction with the Law on Legal Shelters where it will be seen whether I meet the requirements for legal operation of a shelter. It goes without saying that this is not the case. And it goes without saying that I do not have an operating license. So by law my shelter must stop operating permanently.If animals are found in the area, the Mayor will face criminal and legal sanctions because the law prohibits the operation of illegal shelters. Therefore, he demands that all animals be removed, even temporarily, until the inspection is complete.
On Friday, I will make an effort to meet with the Prosecutor who is handling the case and I will ask her to give us a reasonable extension of time until I find a solution and transfer my animals somewhere.
Please, anyone who has adopted dogs from my shelter can upload photos to the page and write a few words of support so that I can show them to the veterinary service and the Prosecutor. Thank you very much in advance.
