We are sorry to announce the passing of the last of the original founders of the company my uncle Graham Cox ( Chaz ) who passed away peacefully on the 24th May 2026
Many of you who have been with us for years will know the company was formed in 1969/ 1970 by my father Geoff and his brother Graham starting out as a small gardening company until it evolved into an agricultural contracting company specialising in making hay and baling straw all over North Essex and South Suffolk eventually branching out becoming cattle and sheep farmers with Graham concentrating on building the firewood side of the company.
Graham was still a regular face at the farm right up until he was to ill to ‘pop up’ and was always available to lend a helping hand in anyway he could or offer his advice if asked.
His funeral will be at the three counties crematorium on Thursday 11th June at 12.30pm any donations to be made via Daniel Robinson are going to Farleigh Hospice and Marie Curie Nurses who we will be forever thankful too.

And we have gone full circle once again and next winter’s firewood is getting processed and put away so it can be drying out over the summer months.

By the time this lovely bit of ash gets delivered out it will be down to around 15/16% moisture.

Lovely dry sunny morning with a dusting of snow.
Quick moisture test before before the loads start going out.
Just under 14% is plenty good enough for me.

I’m seeing so many firewood scammers on local FB pages.
Regardless of whether you buy from us or another supplier please beware of anyone who asks for money upfront and also any add that doesn’t list there location and so appear to deliver anywhere.
If it’s cheap and to good to be true it probably is. Or you will end up with a bag of wet laylandii.
If you do decide to order from us you can be assured it will be
100% hardwood Ash / beech with some sycamore. woodsure accredited ready to burn. All cut to 10” / 25cm
Straightforward pricing thats open for all to see rather than this PM me for prices rubbish. Everyone of our customers pays the same.

Lovely dry calm day to roll some hay around.

Glad I managed to get this lovely 10” sycamore caged up and put away yesterday before today’s rain kicked in. For now it can sit in an open barn and finish drying off. Sycamore is a lovely fast drying timber so this should be perfect for Christmas 🎅🏻
